Scratchboard

Artist Statement:

For this piece, I had a picture that I took which I then scratched onto the scratchboard using a grid system. I first printed out my picture to around the size that I wanted my scratchboard piece to be. Then, I drew a grid on the picture using a sharpie, and I also drew a grid on the scratchboard using a soft graphite pencil. I then went box to box scratching away the ink to eventially get this piece.

For materials, I used a scratchboard and verious scratchboard tools to creat the piece andI used a 6B graphite drawing pencil to make a grid on the scratchboard so i could be acurate with my lines.

Overall, I like the way that this piece turned out especially because this was my first experience using scratchboard for real. I think that the only thing I would change would be the acuracy of the face of the pig.
