Artist Statement:
I took a random ink drop on my piece of bristol board and turned it into a vile substance oozing from a creepy snake's mouth.
After a lot of time staring at my ink glob I finally saw it as it was, a black glob. So, I did some sketching in graphite around the glob and came up with a snake design. I then did all of the line work for the snake using a fine point pen and I also used a black sharpie to manipulate the glob in a way that worked better with my drawing. After I was done with all of the line work I used watercolor pencils and water to color it in.
I knew I was going to want and do line work in pen for this draing but I just didn't know what I was going to do, I ran through some ideas in my head and did a couple incomplete sketches on the paper though I erased them before I thought to take any pictures. Eventually my final design was the one that I went with and I am really happy how it turned out. I have used watercolor pencils in the past but never as they were intended to be used (with water) but I really like how they worked and definetly will use them as a medium again.
