In this drawing, I grided a picture of my face and I used a viewfinder to transfer the squares onto my drawing paper. I did this drawing on a 9 by 12 piece of mixed media paper. The boxes were 1 inch by one inch.

The materials I used on this piece were a 2h and 2b pencil with a kneaded eraser and a tortillon to blend the graphite. for the boxes that didn't have any detail, I lightly colored them and then I blended them with the tortillon.

I used different techniques to make the hair and the shadows. For the hair, I just followed the same way that my hair grows and what the picture looked like. Also when I did the shadows I pressed a little harder on the paper for a darker tone to blend with the tortillon.
