Charcoal, White charcoal tortillin, kneaded eraser
For this drawing, I took a gridded picture of my dog Sophie and used a viewfinder to transfer exactly what the picture was onto the 9 by 12 piece of paper. I used this picture because it's a photo of my dog being happy. I used new materials for this drawing that I had never used before.
I used a charcoal stick, charcoal pencil, white charcoal pencil, a kneaded eraser, and a tortillon in this. I used the charcoal pencil for the majority of the drawing and I used the tortillon to bled all the parts that need to be a solid color. I used the white charcoal pencil to do highlights on this drawing but I didn't use it too much.
For all the hair on my dog, I had to use different techniques to get all the hair right. I made qick strokes to get all the lines right and I had to blend a lot of the background with the tortillon to get a good gradient because I didn't want the original background from the picture.
