In this piece I had to make a cyanotype. First I wanted to do a character just standing straight up but decided to do something different and made him face plant. I had to work with different views of his body which is something that I don't do too often so it was kind of hard but I like how he turned out.
For this project I used my pencil in my sketchbook for what I needed to trace to get onto the clear sheet. I then used black sharpie to transfer my sketch onto the clear sheet. This is what I put onto the fabric for it to soak in the sun. For the embroidery I just used a needle and white string.
I first did a rough sketch in my sketchbook just using lines to show where the arms and legs will be angled. Then I used a darker pencil to do more of the details. At that point I was ready to transfer my sketch over to the clear sheet. I used a black sharpie and carefully went over the lines in my sketch book using the transparent sheet of plastic(?). Then I clipped my fabric to a clipboard along with the sheet of plastic(?) and let it sit in the sun for about 20 minutes. I used the fabric and put it in a circular thing to embroider. I got about and arms-length of string in and I ran out but I didn't know how to tie it or re-tie another piece to finish the embroidery. I just stopped there because it was really frustrating but I still got a little embroidery in. I am not happy with this piece but I am happy I tried.
