Encaustic

In this project I had to make art with wax on a piece of wood. I wanted to make a face but not looking like a face. I didn't have too much time to make this face so it looks not much like a face. That is ok because it is something I have never tried before. The other pice I did was a flower with different color pedals. I didn't have enough colors to make a full flower so the last pedal is black and it is being plucked.

For materials I used a block of wood and hot wax that dries really quickly. I used a bunch of layers for texture and used a little knife to carve the wax for lines.

At the start of the face I used clear wax as a foundation and I added a ton of layers. Then, I did a brown backdrop to make the tan face pop more than if it was just on white background. for the flower I did a mountain of yellow wax for the center and did the other colors a little shorter. But i wanted the flower to be coming out of the wood in a way.
