Canvas, Acrylic paint
For this project, I revised my 7th sustained investigation. In my 7th SI, I did the exact character above but I had him floating in white space and I didn't really like how that looked. I loved the character but it just didn't look right with absolutely no background. So since the character was floating I thought maybe he would look good in the sky.
For materials, I used all acrylic paint. It was pretty hard to get the character's shades and colors the same as the original with acrylic because I had to mix paint and not every time would I have the same color to start where I left off.
For the process, I started with tracing my old drawing onto the canvas using a lightbox and that was kind of hard because it kept falling and I had to somehow get it right back to where it was. Once I finished that I painted the whole background with light grey acrylic paint. I then made the clouds and started painting the head of the character. This was the hard part because I couldn't get all the right colors, it would look good and then it would look too dark on the paper. I went all the way down to the shoes which I did a different color than the original because the original shoes' color wasn't a real-life colorway of the shoes that he had on so I did black because that is a real colorway of the foam runners (the shoes on the character) called onyx. I finished with the lightning which wasn't too har but it took a while because of the drying times. In the end, I don't like this as much as the original because the original was cleaner and the colors blend better because of the alcohol markers.
