Collage Character

construction paper, elmers glue

For this project I wanted to use advice from the critiques I recieved from my peers. I always use markers or something of the sort so I wanted to not even color the character I made in with paint or markers or crayons or pencils. I liked the idea of layering paper and kind of collaging. So I decided to do a character walking away and have them carrying their long coat by the arms.

I used pencil to sketch the character and to put it onto the final paper and then I used different colored paper for the color. I pasted it onto the final paper with elmers stick glue.

I sketched out the character to start off in my sketchbook. Then I tried to sketch it onto the final paper and got it off center a little bit so I had to cut the side off so it looked centered. Then I started with the head by cutting a brown circle that I cut down everytime I held it up to the sketch to get the right size. I worked like this all the way down to the shoes which were the hardest part becsuse I didn't have any grey colored construction paper so I used grey markers to color a big area in and then cut it out for the right shape.
