From 26th April 2021, following guidance from Scottish Cycling, the club is now able to resume time trial events. Hopefully, if the situation continues to improve we will be able to resume group riding activiteis after 17th May (when Scotland moves to Level 2 restrictions). The schedule of events can be viewed on the BC website. Because of the current situation events will not be the same as usual (but it is the same as our September 2020 events), so please take the time to read the important information below.
First Event
The first event takes place on Wednesday 28th April, which is the Bridge of Earn / Forteviot 11 mile TT. There are some specific points to note for this event:
Meet in the car park in Bridge of Earn (opposite the Institute) at 6:45 to confirm your start number, then proceed to the start line for a 7pm start.
Please remember to keep your distance (>2m) at all times.
As per the procedures below, please pre-register for the event on the BC website.
2021 Event Procedures
These are the general conditions that all the events will be operating under. While this may seem fairly detailed, it’s pretty simple stuff that we’ve all got used to during the pandemic. They're intended to keep all of us, and the wider public, safe so please follow them to avoid any unwanted criticism or damage to the club’s reputation. As we move forward we will hopefully be able to remove any rules that no longer apply.
Events are being run under the guidelines of Scottish Cycling and the Scottish Government in relation to COVID-19.
If you or anyone in your household have any symptoms of COVID-19, you MUST NOT attend these events. If you do attend you are self certifying that you and those you live with are symptom free.
You must be a member of Perth United CC (or be considering joining) to participate. If you are not a current member then please register on the British Cycling website. For our event insurance from British Cycling to be valid you must be a "first claim" member of Perth United to participate (i.e. you cannot represent another club in open races, or have them listed as your primary club, and still ride in Perth United confined events).
Please register in advance on the British Cycling website to say you will be riding. Simply go to the event on the calendar and click on the button that says “Count Me In”.
Depending on numbers of entrants there may be staggered starts, to reduce congestion in start and finish areas. If you are required to arrive at a different time to the published start time you will be informed by email in advance.
Physical distancing (>2m) from others must be observed at ALL TIMES. This includes parking/meeting areas, line-ups at the start, warming up/down, passing during the race and at the end of the event.
Riders and volunteers will be asked to confirm their contact details (as listed on their BC registration) in line with NHS Scotland Test & Protect procedures.
Riders will start unassisted. i.e. no-one will be holding their bike up on the start line.
A red tail light must be used by all riders during races.
Timekeepers will only read results where there is a suitable location where everyone can keep their distance. Riders will be instructed where to go at the end of the event, when they start. Where there is no safe place for post race results, riders will be told to disperse after finishing and the results will be posted online.
Event Schedule and Competitions
From the events planned we will run the usual set of competitions, full details of scoring and counting events will follow.
The events will require timekeepers, with a rota being set up. If you are able to assist at any of the events, or even bring along a family member who can operate a stopwatch, that would be greatly appreciated.
