Our Good Neighbors!

OUR GOOD NEIGHBORS!

Hearing those sirens screaming down the road, there goes our neighbors the Firemen and rescue squad. Off on another run to go visit a neighbor’s home, who invited them in under distressing circumstance. They put their lives in danger on every call they received from their neighbors. Out to save another life today. It could be a fire in your home or that silent poison that creeps in so slowing Carbon Monoxide. No matter what the case may be, our neighbors the firefighters are standing by to receive the call from you. Therefore, they can be of any help at all. They save my home and my life this year, one from preventing a fire from coming into my home, another from that deadly poison that creeps in so slowly.

I made that call to invite them into my home under distressing circumstance; my good neighbors were there to help me through it before it could take my life. So fast, where they going though my home, checking out everything, and fixing the problem so my home was safe from harm. They even came back a few hours later to put in another smoke detector.

These firefighters deserve the Good Neighbor Award every day. I want to thank them for all they have done for our neighborhood. They are invited today to come into our home to receive this award and Thanksgiving dinner without us making a distress call today.

For the firefighters and rescue squad are our good neighbors and our friends, which do their job without a thought to their own lives. Therefore, when you make that distress call to your neighbors the firefighters they will be there for you in a matter of minutes.

Be thankful they are Our Good Neighbors

SO THANK OUR GOOD NEIGHBORS, THE FIREFIGHTERS TODAY!

November 17, 2009 I wrote this for out local firemen, that I had the pleasure of meeting them under distressing circumstance. I wrote about the fire in the poem called FIRESTORM.

http://godinme.web.officelive.com/FireStorm.aspx

So I won’t get into that here. In early October my grandson was home with me, when my Carbon Monoxide detector went off and it would not stop. So I called the fire department and the rescue squad came in. They had some gadget that can tell the reading of the carbon monoxide it was at a high level of 10, they right away went and open all the windows and I had the key next door duplex being it was empty from the fire in April. My landlord had given me the keys so I can go in and get another smoke detector for my bedroom.

They went over there and level was high also. They open all the windows and checked all around for what may have caused this… There was 2 possible causes, I had a friends car in my garage which is also the basement. She just moved her car out of there a few hours earlier. Which I was surprised because I thought the alarm would have gone off right away. But they told me it builds up and I had just put plastic on some of the windows.

The second possible cause was in the basement next door the hot water tank was removed and the vent that went into the chimney was not caped off. And with my sealing all the windows the night before that too may have taken a while to build up.

They got the level down to a three then close most of all the windows leaving about an inch open. And told me they would be back in a few hours to check the levels again and to bring a new smoke detector in for my bedroom. They mention to me about getting duct tape to cape off the vent, I told them I had that and went down to the basement and covered it in tape.

They came back a few hours later the level was down to 0 so they closed all the windows and locked up the duplex next door. They then put in the smoke detector and another carbon monoxide detector in my bedroom, my landlord had bought that for me a month ago I just did not have anyone to put in for me. I thank God for that Carbon Monoxide detector that my sister gave to me. It saved my life and my grandsons life as well. This Christmas a Carbon Monoxide detector could be the best gift you can give.

The Southside Neighborhood Association I am part of is holding their 2nd Annual Good Neighbor Awards on November 24, 2009 with a Thanksgiving dinner. So I felt these firefighters deserved this award. Not for what they did for me, but for all they do for everyone. They put their life on the line each and every day with the calls that come in.

When Leah the president of the SSNA called me to tell me they will get the award and that I was the one to present the award to them, I needed to prepare a speech for them,. I am not good at making speeches and I know I will end up messing it up. So I wrote a poem for them instead. So much better then a long boring speech that I will mess up on.
