Seit dem Erstnachweis von Katamysis warpachowskyi G. O. Sars 1893 für die Oberen Donau bei km 1936 im Jahre 2001 hat sich die bekannte Verbreitungsgrenze 2007 stromaufwärts nach km 2112 (Hafen an der Mündung der Enns) und 2008 weiter nach km 2228 (Winterhafen Passau) verschoben. Der Fund in Passau bedeutet den Erstnachweis für Deutschland. Die Lage der neuen Verbreitungsgrenzen in großen Donauhäfen bestärkt frühere Hypothesen, dass Verschleppung durch die Schifffahrt eine wesentlich Rolle bei der Ausbreitung dieser Art spielt.
Since the first record at km 1936 in 2001, the known distribution limit of Katamysis warpachowskyi G. O. Sars 1893 in the upper reach of the Danube River, has shifted upstream to km 2112 (harbour in the mouth of the Enns River) in 2007 and to km 2228 (winter harbour of Passau) in 2008. The finding at Passau is the first record for Germany. The findings of large harbours as new distribution limits corroborate previous hypotheses that navigation plays a key role in the dispersion of this species.
