Another Minute, Pierrot

A Royalty-Free Play Script from La Commedia

A two-man show, halfway improvised: Pierrot comes to a magical garden hoping to learn the ways of love, little suspecting that he has been set up by Policinelle. A parody of Dowson's Pierrot of the Minute, built upon his original text.

Author's Note: The joke of the play is in mocking the obnoxiously serious and romantic verse spoken by Pierrot. Pierrot always believes what he says, and never till the end realizes that he is experiencing anything other than a mildly erotic love poem. The actor playing Policinelle should never miss any available chance to comically humiliate or mock the oblivious, lovestruck clown, but he must do it all without revealing himself to Pierrot as Policinelle instead of Moon Maiden, and without venturing anything so nasty as to render Pierrot’s romantic excesses sympathetic.
The script instructs some music to be used. In 1908 Granville Bantock composed some music for this play, but it's not necessary to use this particular piece. Whatever music the director thinks fit, is acceptable.
