Zanni Rouge

This style of making up zanni with heavy rouge over an otherwise bare face is seen in 18th century paintings. After powdering the face, apply the reddest rouge you can find to the lips, and across the cheeks and bridge of the nose for a comical "sunkissed" look.

If you cannot find a red rouge, you can use theatrical greasepaint or a red lipstick, blended out -- but creams will not spread evenly on top of powder, so you will want to apply the rouge first, in this case.
