Rustic Zanni

"Vesti la giubba, e la faccia infarina" are the famous opening lines of the aria from the 19th century opera Pagliacci ('Clowns'), about the personal dramas occurring amidst a group of commedia actors. The word infarina evokes the old tradition of commedia actors to use white flour as a face powder. Starch is also used, and even many modern face powders are produced from a base of cornstarch or rice flour.

This will not create a "clown white" but rather just a cheap mattifying powder that will reduce glare on the face and diffuse light.
