From the time of Aaron and his descendants who are anointed messiah temple priests forever it is forbidden for a person who has been anointed as a messiah king to also be an anointed messiah temple priest meaning the role of king and the role of temple priest have been established as separate positions which cannot both be taken by one person and the punishment given to a messiah king who disobeys this commandment is shown in 2 Chronicles 26:16 - 26:20.

Among the children of Israel the Tanakh foretells of a messiah anointed king who is born from a biological father who will descend from the messiah king David through messiah king Solomon.

Among the children of Israel the Torah established a messiah anointed temple priesthood who descend biologically forever from the anointed messiah Aaron the high priest.

INDEX:

1. The meaning of priest “kohen” “cohen” depends on context.

Exodus 19:6

2. The meaning of “priest” in Genesis 14:18 in the time of Melchizedek and Abram before the time of Prophet Aaron means a person doing the work of Allaah.

Genesis 14:18

Genesis 14:19

Genesis 14:20

3. The meaning of priest for Prophet Aaron means a temple priest.

Prophet Aaron and his descendants are the temple priests of the children of Israel forever in an everlasting covenant.

Numbers 18:19

Numbers 18:22

Numbers 18:23

4. The meaning of priest in the time of messiah king David.

In the time of the anointed messiah king David only descendants of the anointed messiah Aaron the high priest were temple priests as explained in 3 above.

    A. For David and Melchizedek in Psalm 110:4 “priest” means “a person who is doing the work of Allaah.”

Psalm 110:1

Psalm 110:4

Psalm 110:5

   B. For the sons of David in 2 Samuel 8:18 and 1 Chronicles 18:17 “priest” means “an important office of authority like chief ministers or chief officers” but not temple priests.

2 Samuel 8:18

1 Chronicles 18:17

   C. Messiah king David is not a temple priest like Aaron the high priest. The word “priest” means that David will be doing the work of Allaah like “priest” for Melchizedek and Abram means they did the work of Allaah.

5. From the time of Aaron and his descendants and forever in the Torah the Tanakh does not allow an anointed messiah king to also be a temple priest.

2 Chronicles 26:19

2 Chronicles 26:20

6. Conclusion.

Among the children of Israel from the time of Aaron a king cannot be both a king and a temple priest.

1. The meaning of priest “kohen” “cohen” depends on context.

Priest “kohen” “cohen” means a person who holds an important office of authority and It is the context that shows what kind of priest.

When you see priest “kohen” “cohen” in scripture you need to read to understand the meaning of the use of the word priest “kohen” “cohen” based on modifiers and context.

Before receiving the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai all the children of Israel are called a “kingdom of priests” but this does not means all the Hebrews are the descendants of Prophet Aaron who are the only Hebrews allowed into the Holy of Holies to bring an incense offering at the temple.

Exodus 19:6 and you (the children of Israel) shall be to Me (Allaah) a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which you (Moses) shall speak to the children of Israel.

Note 1. Priest in Exodus 19:6 means the nation of the children of Israel are “priests” meaning “they will do the work of Allaah.”

After the time of Aaron the word priest “kohen” “cohen” means a descendant of Aaron the high priest unless it is modified for example a “priest (also called “kohen” “cohen”) of Baal” is an idol worshipping priest of Baal in 2 Chronicles 23:17.

2. The meaning of “priest” in Genesis 14:18 in the time of Melchizedek and Abram before the time of Prophet Aaron means a person doing the work of Allaah.

The Hebrew words Melchi zedek is translated into English as king of righteousness or righteous king and is the name describing Shem the son of Noah who lived in the time of Abram.

In Genesis 14:18 after Abram later called Abraham defeats four Kings a person with the title of Melchizedek (meaning “righteous king”) the king of Salem (meaning “the king of peace” Jerusalem see Psalm 76:2 in Tanakh or Psalm 76:3 in Christian Bible) and he is also called a priest (“priest” means a person doing the work) of “Allaah the Most High” and in Genesis 14:19 he passes this authority (of a person doing the work of Allaah) to “Abram of Allaah Most High.”

Before Prophet Aaron and his descendants were made priests forever there was a priest called Melchizedek (meaning “righteous king”) the king of Salem who blessed Abram (later named Abraham) whose enemies were defeated.

The word from Melchizedek (Shem the son of Noah) is that Abram is blessed and his enemies are defeated and the meaning is that Abram is doing the work of Allaah on the earth in the same way as Shem the son of Noah did the work of Allaah before Abraham.

This word “priest” in Genesis 14:18 meaning a person doing the work of Allaah is the same meaning of “priest” in Exodus 19:6 where all the Hebrew people are called “a kingdom of priests” meaning the Hebrews are a nation of people “doing the work of Allaah.”

Exodus 19:6 and you (the children of Israel) shall be to Me (Allaah) a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which you (Moses) shall speak to the children of Israel.

Genesis 14:18 And (living in the time of Abram later named Abraham was Shem the son of Noah who was given the title) Melchizedek (meaning “righteous king”) the king of Salem (meaning “the king of peace” Jerusalem see Psalm 76:2 in Tanakh or Psalm 76:3 in Christian Bible and he) brought out bread and wine; and he was a priest (meaning he was doing the work) of Allaah the Most High.

Genesis 14:19 And he (Melchizedek who was doing the work of Allaah on the earth) blessed him (Abram who was later named Abraham), and said: 'Blessed be Abram of Allaah Most High, Maker of heaven and earth (meaning the work of Allaah on the earth is now given to Abram later named Abraham)

Genesis 14:20 and blessed be Allaah the Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.' …”

Note 1. The word of Melchizedek to Abram is that Abram is blessed by Allaah who made it possible for Abram to defeat his enemies and this would be the same message that would later be given to messiah king David meaning he also would be blessed and also defeat his enemies.

Note 2. The blessing that Shem will be a righteous leader “the Allaah of Shem.”.

Shem lived for 600 years (Genesis 11:10, Genesis 11:11) and was alive in the time of Abraham and Shem died before the death of Jacob.

Shem was 465 years old when Abram (later named Abraham) was 75 years of age.

Genesis 5:32 And Noah was 500 years old; and Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Genesis 9:26 And he (Noah) said: Blessed be the LORD, the Allaah of Shem; and let Canaan be their servant.

Note 3. Salem is Jerusalem.

Psalm 76:2 (in Tanakh or Psalm 76:3 in Christian Bible) In Salem (“Peace” meaning Jerusalem) also is set His (Allaah’s) tabernacle (portable earthly dwelling place), and His (Allaah’s) dwelling-place in Zion (Jerusalem).

3. The meaning of priest for Prophet Aaron means a temple priest.

Prophet Aaron and his descendants are the temple priests of the children of Israel forever in an everlasting covenant.

Numbers 18:19 All the gift of the holy offerings which the children of Israel offer to the LORD, I have given to you (Aaron), and your sons and your daughters with you for ever; it is an everlasting covenant of salt (which never decays or spoils meaning this is a promise that will never change, salt preserves food meaning the promise of Allaah will never change) before the LORD for you (Aaron) and to your descendants with you.'

No one can do the duties of a priest except Aaron and his children and their descendants.

Prophet Aaron was the first high priest of the children of Israel.

From the time of Prophet Moses in Sinai onwards the children of Israel cannot do the work of the priest “kohen” “cohen” except for Aaron, his children and their descendants.

Numbers 18:22 And from now onwards the children of Israel shall not come near the tent of meeting, in case they bear sin and die.

No one can do duties at the Temple which are assigned only for a Levi throughout their generations meaning forever.

Descendants of the tribe of Levi “Levites” include Moses, Aaron, Miriam, Samuel, Ezekiel, Ezra and Malachi but only Aaron and the descendants of his children are priests.

Those among the tribe of Levi who were not priests (not kohen, not cohen) worked at the temple as guards or played music in the Temple or were involved in other religious or political duties.

Numbers 18:23 But the Levites alone shall do the service of the tent of meeting (Temple), and they shall bear their iniquity (because it is their duty to warn people not to do what only the priest is allowed to do); it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, and among the children of Israel they (the Levites) shall have no inheritance (as landowners because Allaah is their inheritance).

4. The meaning of priest in the time of messiah king David.

In the time of messiah king David only descendants of messiah Aaron the high priest were temple priests as explained in 3 above.

A. For David and Melchizedek in Psalm 110:4 “priest” means “a person who is doing the work of Allaah.”

Psalm 110:1 A Psalm of David. (The messiah king David asked “My Allaah my Allaah why have you forsaken me” in Psalm 22:1 - 22:2 or Psalm 22:2 - 22:3 in Tanakh and Prophet Nathan told the messiah king David), The LORD (Allaah) said to my (Prophet Nathan's) lord (who is the messiah King David): 'You (King David) sit at My (Allaah’s) right hand (meaning trust Allaah and be patient), until I (Allaah) make your enemies your footstool (meaning your servants. See Psalm 110:5-110:7).'

Psalm 110:4 The Lord has sworn and will not relent, “you (messiah king David) shall be a priest forever (where “priest” means that David will be doing the work of Allaah forever in the same way as “priest” for Melchizedek means Shem and Abraham did the work of Allaah) like the manner of Melchizedek (where David will be blessed by Allaah and David will defeat his enemies in the same way as Melchizedek told Abram later named Abraham that Abram was blessed by Allaah who made possible the defeat of his enemies as said by Melchizedek in Genesis 14:18 - 14:20 and is a promise from Allaah to David in Psalm 110:1. See https://sites.google.com/site/islamandthequran/who-is-melchizedek  ).

Psalm 110:5 The Lord at your (messiah king David’s) right hand does crush kings in the day of His wrath.

B. For the sons of David in 2 Samuel 8:18 and 1 Chronicles 18:17 “priest” means “an important office of authority like chief ministers or chief officers” but not temple priests.

2 Samuel 8:18 “… and David’s sons were priests (where priest means an important office of authority, meaning chief ministers or chief officers and not meaning temple priests like Aaron).

Note 1. Priest in 2 Samuel 8:18 is not a temple priest like Aaron but means an important office of authority which is described in 1 Chronicles 18:17 as chief ministers or chief officers to the King.

1 Chronicles 18:17 “… and the sons of David were first at the King’s hand (to do their duties as chief ministers or chief officers to the King).

Note 1. In 1 Chronicles 18:17 chief ministers or chief officers to the King are described in 2 Samuel 8:18 as priests meaning an important office of authority and not a temple priest like Aaron.

C. Messiah king David is not a temple priest like Aaron the high priest.

In Psalm 110:4 the word “priest” means that David will be doing the work of Allaah like “priest” for Melchizedek and Abram means they did the work of Allaah.

No one who is a descendant of messiah king David is a temple priest like Aaron the high priest and his descendants.

After the time of Aaron a king could not do the work of a temple priest like Aaron the high priest and his descendants.

After the time of Aaron a person from the tribe of Judah could not do the temple work of a person from the tribe of Levi.

5. From the time of Aaron and his descendants and forever in the Torah the Tanakh does not allow an anointed messiah king to also be a temple priest.

Temple priests descended from Aaron and kings descended from David and both have separate roles given by Allaah which cannot be combined as shown when messiah King Uzziah of the house of David tried to do the duty assigned only to priests who descended from Aaron the high priest by going into the Temple to burn incense at the altar of incense in 2 Chronicles 26:16 - 26:21.

2 Chronicles 26:16 And when he (messiah King Uzziah who descended from messiah king David) became strong his heart became arrogant until he became corrupt, and he trespassed against the LORD his Allaah and he went into the Temple of the LORD (in Jerusalem) to burn incense on the altar of incense.

2 Chronicles 26:17 And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him 80 priests of the LORD, that were valiant men;

2 Chronicles 26:18 and they stood next to Uzziah the king, and said to him: 'It is not for you, Uzziah to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests (who are) the sons of Aaron that are consecrated to burn incense. Get out of the sanctuary (Temple) for you (messiah King Uzziah who descended from messiah king David) have trespassed and will have no honour from the LORD Allaah.'

2 Chronicles 26:19 But Uzziah became angry; and he had a censer (container) in his hand to burn incense; and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke out in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, beside the altar of incense.

2 Chronicles 26:20 And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked at him and saw he was leprous in his forehead, and they threw him out quickly from there; and he (messiah King Uzziah) himself quickly went out (of the Temple) because the LORD had struck him (with leprosy).

2 Chronicles 26:21 And Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a house set apart, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD; and Jotham his son was (ruling) over the king's house judging the people of the land.

After the death of messiah King Uzziah who violated the Temple by entering it to do work only permitted to priests who descended from Aaron the high priest in 2 Chronicles 26:16 - 26:21 is a description in Isaiah 6 of the earthquake caused by King Uzziah doing the work assigned only to priests at the Temple.

6. Conclusion.

Among the children of Israel from the time of Aaron a king cannot be both a king and a temple priest meaning whenever the word priest is used in relation to the sons of David it is not about a temple priest but means a person who holds an important office of authority as shown in Samuel 8:18 and 1 Chronicles 18:17 in 4 above meaning the messiah to come who is a descendant of messiah king David through messiah king Solomon will be a king but not a temple priest in the same way as messiah king David and messiah king Solomon were also kings but not temple priests.

Among the children of Israel the Tanakh foretells of a messiah anointed king who is born from a biological father who descended from the messiah king David through messiah king Solomon.

Among the children of Israel the Torah established a messiah anointed temple priesthood who descend biologically from messiah Aaron the high priest.

From the time of Aaron the high priest and his descendants who are anointed messiah temple priests forever it is forbidden for a person who has been anointed as a messiah king to also be an anointed messiah temple priest meaning the role of king and the role of temple priest have been established as separate positions which cannot be taken by one person and the punishment given to a messiah king who disobeys this commandment is shown in 2 Chronicles 26:16 - 26:20 in 5 above.

Writings outside the Tanakh concerning Melchizedek such as Hebrews 7:1 - 7:4, Alma 13:17 – 13:18 and others can be judged as true if they confirm what is written in Tanakh Jewish scripture or false if they contradict what is written in the Tanakh because all such writings claim to confirm what is written in the Tanakh Jewish scripture.

Paul changed the word of Allaah when Paul claimed the anointed messiah is both a King and a High priest in Hebrews 4:14. An anointed messiah king descends biologically from David however an anointed messiah High priest descends biologically from Aaron meaning the anointed messiah king cannot descend from both David and Aaron meaning an anointed messiah king cannot do the duties of an anointed messiah High priest.

Allaah uses Paul to test who will follow the word of Allaah and who will follow Paul in the test described in 1 Kings 8:46 - 8:50.

Video 1: Why didn't Allaah forgive Uziah for burning Incense on the altar - with Rabbi Tovia Singer.

A messiah who descended from King David can never be both a king and a priest.

The Book of Hebrews by Paul contradicts the Tanakh Jewish scripture where the kingly covenant given to the descendants of King David forever must never do the duties given to the priests in the priestly covenant given to the descendants of the High priest Aaron forever.

Allaah put the disease of leprosy on King Uzziah as a sign to all generations that after the time of Aaron no one can be both a king who descended from David and a priest who descended from Aaron.

Isaiah 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died (not literally but died meaning he became a leper which looks like death when he trespassed against Allaah in 2 Chronicles 26:16 by entering the temple of Allaah to burn incense on the altar of incense which is only permitted for priests. King Uzziah lived in a cemetery where a house was made for him in 2 Chronicles 26:21 as a sign to all generations that it is forbidden for a king who descended from David to do the work given to the priests who descended from Aaron) …”

Zechariah 6:12 and speak to him, saying: Thus says the LORD of hosts, “Behold, a man whose name is the Shoot (Zerubbabel the governor of Judah in the time of the second temple is called “the shoot” in Zechariah 3:8 and “shoot” is also used for the messiah descendant of David in the time of the third temple), and who shall shoot up out of his place, and build the temple of the LORD;

Zechariah 6:13 even he (Zerubbabel the governor of Judah in the time of the second temple is called “the shoot” in Zechariah 3:8 and “shoot” is also used for the messiah descendant of David in the time of the third temple) shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory (of a leader, of a king), and shall sit and rule on his throne; and the priest shall be on his throne; and a counsel of peace (coordination) shall be between (both of) them.

Note 1. The king and the priest are two different people in the first, second and third temple.

Note 2. The word “shoot” is used for Zerubbabel the governor of Judah in the time of the second temple in Zechariah 3:8 to show that the same shall be for the “shoot” meaning the descendant of David in the time of the third temple meaning there will be no conflict between the King and the high priest.

Note 3. In the time of the third temple both the king who will be a descendant of David and the priest who will be a descendant of Aaron will work together in peace.

Video 3: What will the Messiah do in the Third Temple? Rabbi Tovia Singer’s answer might surprise you.

The messiah is called “the prince” nearly twenty times in Ezekiel 34 to Ezekiel 45.

Unused ancient Jewish floor plans for the third and final Temple are found in chapters 40 – 47 of the Book of Ezekiel. In order to grasp the prophet’s multi-layer image of the End of Days, Rabbi Singer explores a provocative prophecy that you are unlikely to hear about in church.

Hebrew 10:18 “… sacrifices for sin is no longer necessary.”

Romans 6:14 “… you are not under the law (Torah) …”

In the time of the third temple the messiah will bring sacrifices for himself and for the people for unintentional sin.

The messiah called the prince will bring offerings which the priests will sacrifice on his behalf.

This is not as a memorial of the past but the full implementation of the sacrificial service.

The prince will employ the priesthood to bring offerings for him such as the passover offerings in Ezekiel 45:19 - 45:21.

Ezekiel 45:22 And the prince (“the messiah” who will be a descendant of King David Dawud) shall make on that day for himself and for all the people of Israel a bull for a sin-offering.
