Introduction.

No muslim prays to the black stone or worships the black stone.

The black stone is a piece of rock called a meteorite which fell down to Earth from the heavens (the sky).

The black stone is visible on the cubic structure called the Kaaba so that every person can keep count of the number of times they walk around the Kaaba as they pray to Allaah.

The tradition of kissing the black stone represents love for the signs of Allaah in heaven.

Kissing a piece of rock is not in the Quran and therefore many Muslims do not do it.

Those Muslims who do it are following a hadith story which said someone saw the prophet kiss the rock but this is not confirmed in the Quran.

Quran 41:37 Koran 41:37 And of His (Allaah’s) signs are the night and the day and the Sun and the Moon. Do not prostrate (pray) to the Sun or the Moon but prostrate (pray) to Allaah who created them, if you truly worship Him (Allaah).

Hadith stories and the Quran.

1. People kiss the black stone because Umar said he saw the prophet kiss the stone.

Sahih Muslim 1270a.

Sahih Muslim 1270b.

2. Touching the black stone removes sin.

Sunan an-Nasa'i 2919.

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 959.

3. The stone is black because of the sins it removed from people who touched it.

Jami at-Tirmidhi 877.

4. The black stone will be resurrected with two eyes with which to see and a tongue with which to speak, and it will testify for those who touched it.

Jami at-Tirmidhi 961.

5. Umar said the black stone cannot bring benefit to you or cause harm to you in any way.

Jami at-Tirmidhi 860.

Sunan an-Nasa'i 2937.

Sunan an-Nasa'i 2938.

Sahih al-Bukhari 1597.

6. The Quran says:

Quran 5:76 Koran 5:76 say, “Would you worship someone that can not hurt you or benefit you instead of worshipping Allaah? Allaah hears all and knows (all).

Note 1. Stone cannot hurt you or benefit you.

Quran 6:158 Koran 6:158 "... belief in it (Allaah and the Day of Resurrection and Judgement) shall not help any soul …. if in belief (he or she) did not earn good (by doing righteous deeds in their life). ....”

Note 1. Success in the hereafter comes from good deeds.

Quran 21:66 Koran 21:66 He (Prophet Abraham Ibrahim) said, “Do you then, instead of Allaah, worship those (stone statues) which cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you?

Note 1. Stone cannot hurt you or benefit you.

Quran 39:53 Koran 39:53 Say, “My (Allaah’s) servants who have transgressed against themselves, Do not despair of the (thought that you have lost the) mercy of Allaah because Allaah forgives all sins (if you repent and correct yourself and ask Allaah’s forgiveness). He (Allaah) is forgiving and merciful.

Note 1. Allaah forgives all sins.

Quran 39:54 Koran 39:54 Repent to your Lord (Allaah), and surrender (your faith) to Him (Allaah) before punishment comes to you (in the hereafter) and then you shall not be helped.

Note 1. Allaah forgives all sins through repentance and good behaviour.

Quran 39:61 Koran 39:61 And Allaah shall save those who are righteous by their achievement (in doing good deeds). Evil shall not touch them and they shall not grieve (in Paradise Jannah).

Note 1. Allaah forgives all sins through repentance and good behaviour.

Quran 41:8 Koran 41:8 “For those who believe and do good deeds, for them is an everlasting reward (in Paradise Jannah).”

Note 1. Allaah forgives all sins through repentance and good behaviour.

Quran 91:1 – 91:10 Allaah swears by what He created 8 times and swears by His name 4 times meaning Allaah swears 12 times that the person who cleans his soul (of wrongdoing through repentance and returning to good behaviour) will succeed in the hereafter and the person who corrupts his soul (by both not repenting and not returning to good behaviour) will fail in the hereafter.

Note 1. Allaah forgives all sins through repentance and good behaviour.

Quran 110:3 Koran 110:3 Then (Prophet Muhammad) praise your Lord (Allaah) and ask His (Allaah’s) forgiveness (before death comes to you Prophet Muhammad). He (Allaah) is always ready to accept repentance.

Note 1. Allaah forgives all sins through repentance and good behaviour.

Conclusion.

A. The hadith in 4 above where the black stone can benefit or can harm you and hadith in 5 above where the black stone cannot bring benefit to you or cause harm to you in any way contradict each other.

B. Quran 5:76 and Quran 21:66 in 6 above says stone cannot harm or benefit you which contradicts hadith in 1 above where there is a benefit from kissing a stone as well as hadith in 2 and 3 above where touching a stone removes sin.

C. Quran 6:158, Quran 39:53, Quran 39:54, Quran 39:61, Quran 41:8, Quran 91:1 – 91:10 and Quran 110:3 in 6 above says Allaah removes all sin when you repent and when you return to good behaviour which contradicts hadith which claim sin is removed by touching a black stone.

D. The Quran does not confirm these hadith stories because they contradict the teachings in the Quran in 6 above.

E. The guidance of Allaah.

Allaah tests Christians with teachings from Paul which contradict the Tanakh Jewish scriptures in the same way as Allaah tests Muslims with hadith stories which contradict the Quran.

Quran 77:50 Koran 77:50 In what statement (words, news, reports, information, message, hadith), after it (the verses of Allaah in the Quran), shall they (the humans and the jinn) believe?

Note 1. Quran 7:185, Quran 25:29, Quran 25:30, Quran 31:6, Quran 39:23, Quran 45:6 and Quran 77:50 asks when you have the word of Allaah in the Quran what other report would you believe?

Quran 17:88 Koran 17:88 Say (Prophet Muhammad), "If humans and jinn (such as Satan Shaitan) came together to help each other to produce something like the Quran, they could not do it."

Note 1. In the hereafter Satan Shaitan might boast he obeyed Quran 17:88 by whispering hundreds of false hadith stories which teach the opposite to what Allaah and Prophet Muhammad teach in the Quran.

Quran 25:30 Koran 25:30 And (on the Day of Resurrection and Judgement) the messenger (Prophet Muhammad) said, “My Lord (Allaah) my people have abandoned (deserted) this Quran (to follow false messages, false words, false news, false reports, false information, false statements, false hadith).”

Note 1. On the Day of Resurrection and Judgement Prophet Muhammad will say “My Lord my people have abandoned this Quran (to follow false messages, false words, false news, false reports, false information, false statements, false hadith).”

If hadith stories agree with the Quran then accept it and learn from it.

If hadith stories do not agree with the Quran then reject it and also learn from it.

On the Day of Judgement Allaah judges by the words in the protected Quran.

On the Day of Judgement Allaah does not judge by the words in unprotected human hadith stories.

The Quran is the protected word of Allaah including the words and actions of Prophet Muhammad which are described and protected by Allaah.
