The Quran was the beginning of a call for humans to end slavery in the world.

1400 years ago the Quran told humans they had not yet attempted the difficult path of freeing the slave.

1. Sex without marriage is forbidden.

Allaah said marry a free woman or a slave girl.

Quran 4:3 Koran 4:3 And if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly by (marriage to) orphan (girls because you fear that you shall not offer them their full bridal money or for fear that you shall unfairly take their wealth because they are an orphan in your care), then marry (other) women of your choice, two or three or four but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (by providing their full bridal money and support) then only (marry) one (free woman) or (marry a girl slave) that your right hand possess (meaning whom you own), these ways are most likely to prevent you from doing injustice (to any woman).

Allaah said do not seek a wife for doing shameful behaviour such as using your wife to make money for you through the forbidden business of prostitution.

Quran 4:24 Koran 4:24And all married women are forbidden to you (to marry) except those (married women) whom your right hands possess (as decreed by Allaah in Quran 60:10). Allaah has ruled this for you. All others (not on the forbidden marriage list in Quran 4:23 and Quran 4:24) are lawful (to marry) provided you seek (them in honest marriage) with bridal money (dowry, mahr, mehr, meher, mahrieh given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) from your property and you do not seek them for doing shameful behaviour (such as using your wife to make money for you through the forbidden business of prostitution). Those of whom you seek to marry give them their bridal money (dowry, mahr, mehr, meher, mahrieh) as promised. If after the bridal money is prescribed you both freely agree (to change the bridal money conditions by waiver, decreasing or increasing it) then there is no sin on you. Allaah is all knowing and all wise.

Note 1. Quran 60:10 Koran 60:10 All you who believe (in Allaah), When (believing women who married stone idol worshippers before the time of Islam or when women who were stone idol worshippers claim to be) believing women come to you as refugees (who are fleeing from a husband who worships stone idols, those women are in your right hand meaning in your control), examine (test) them (women for their faith) although it is Allaah who best knows their faith. If you determine that they are believers (in Allaah) then do not send them back to the disbelievers (the stone idol worshippers) because they (the believing women) are not lawful (wives) for the disbelievers (the stone idol worshippers) nor are the disbelievers (the stone idol worshippers) lawful (husbands) for them (women who believe in Allaah). But give them (the stone idol worshiping husband) what they (the stone idol worshiping husband) had spent (when he gave his marriage gift, dowry, mahr, mehr, meher, mahrieh so as to compensate) them (the stone idol worshiping husband by returning his marriage gift Mahr). And there shall be no sin on you to marry them (believing women who have fled from a stone idol worshiping husband) if you have given them (the believing women) their marriage gift (dowry, mahr, mehr, meher, mahrieh after she has accepted your marriage proposal from her own free will). He (Allaah) judges (with justice) between you (the believers and the disbelievers). Allaah knows all and is wise.

Allaah said a slave girl should be chaste and not commit prostitution nor have secret lovers.

Quran 4:25 Koran 4:25 “… The (slave girl) should be chaste (and not) commit unlawful intercourse randomly (prostitution) nor have secret lovers. …”

Allaah said do not come near to situations that would lead to unlawful sexual intercourse because it is an immoral and an evil way of life.

Quran 17:32 Koran 17:32 And do not come near to (situations that would lead to) unlawful sexual intercourse; certainly it is an immoral and an evil way (of life).

Allaah said be proper and righteous in your private behaviour.

Quran 23:5 Koran 23:5 And (righteous are those) who guard their private parts (from being seen by other people) –

Quran 23:6 Koran 23:6 – Except from their wives (or husband) or the (servants) that their right hands possess (meaning, the servants which they legally own. For example a person who is unable to look after them self such as the elderly, the disabled and the sick can be bathed and dressed by a servant), then it is not a sin,

Note 1. See Quran 70:29 below.

Allaah said let those who cannot find a match for marriage keep chaste by staying away from sexual relations and do not force your slave-girls into prostitution.

Quran 24:33 Koran 24:33 And let those who cannot find a match (for marriage) keep chaste (by staying away from sexual relations) …”

Quran 24:33 Koran 24:33 “… And those of your slaves who request a contract (for eventual freedom from their slavery, emancipation from slavery), make a contract with them (so they can purchase their freedom from their owner) if you know there is some goodness in them and give to them something from the wealth of Allaah which He (Allaah) has given to you. …”

Quran 24:33 Koran 24:33 “… Do not force your slave-girls to prostitution when they desire chastity in order that you may seek the (temporary) enjoyment of the life of the world. …”

Quran 24:33 Koran 24:33 “… And if anyone forces them (to prostitution), then Allaah shall be forgiving and merciful (to the slave girl because she was forced to do evil against her will and to slave owners who did such things in the time of ignorance before accepting Islam).

Allaah said release the wives who disbelieve in Allaah.

Quran 60:10 Koran 60:10 All you who believe (in Allaah), Do not hold on to disbelieving (stone idol worshiping) women as wives and ask for (the return of) what you spent (in your marriage gift, dowry, mahr, mehr, meher, mahrieh) to them (the stone idol worshiping wife) and let them (the disbelievers who worship stone idols also) ask back for what they spent (in their marriage gift, dowry, mahr, mehr, meher, mahrieh for their women who have come to you). That is the Judgement of Allaah. He (Allaah) judges (with justice) between you (the believers and the disbelievers). Allaah knows all and is wise.

Allaah said be proper and righteous in your private behaviour.

Quran 70:29 Koran 70:29 And those (the righteous) who guard their private parts (from being seen by other people) -

Quran 70:30 Koran 70:30 Except with their wives and those who are legally theirs (meaning, their children and their servants which they legally own. For example a person who is unable to look after them self such as the elderly, the disabled and the sick can be bathed and dressed by a servant or by their children), then it is not a sin.

2. A slave has freedom to accept or reject marriage.

Allaah said you and your slave are equal as far as religion is concerned meaning no one can force a slave girl to marry against her will because Allaah gives each human the freedom to accept or reject marriage.

Quran 4:25 Koran 4:25 And if you do not have the means (not wealthy enough) to marry free believing women then you may marry believing girls from among those (slave girls) whom your right hands possess (meaning whom you own). Allaah has full knowledge about your faith and you (and your slave girl) are equal to one another as far as religion is concerned (meaning no one can force a slave girl to marry against her will because Islam gives each human the freedom to accept or reject marriage). You shall obtain permission from their guardians before you marry them and give them (the girl) their bridal money according to what is reasonable. The (slave girl) should be chaste (and not) commit unlawful intercourse randomly (prostitution) nor have secret lovers. After marriage if she commits illegal sexual intercourse (fahishah, illegal sexual intercourse after marriage, adultery) then her punishment is half of that of a free (married) women (meaning a punishment of fifty lashes). This (rule from Allaah) is for those who are afraid of committing sin (afraid they might commit illegal sexual intercourse if they do not marry someone) but it is better for you to be patient (because it is possible that a slave girl has agreed to marriage only because of her weak position as a slave and this is why Allaah has shown mercy by halving her punishment if the slave girl commits adultery). Allaah is always ready to forgive and most merciful (to those who sincerely repent for their sins).

3. A slave has freedom to accept or reject Islam.

Allaah said there is no compulsion in religion meaning religion must come voluntarily from the human heart and not from the fear of humans or by force.

Quran 2:256 Koran 2:256 There is no compulsion in religion (meaning, religion must come voluntarily from the human heart and not from the fear of humans or by force). …”

Allaah said Allaah decrees who shall believe in Allaah and when they shall believe in Allaah or disbelieve in Allaah.

Quran 10:99 Koran 10:99 And if your Lord (Allaah) had willed then all who are on the earth would have all believed together. (Allaah asks humans), “Would you force people (against their will) to believe (in Allaah when it is Allaah who decrees who will believe and who will disbelieve)? (The answer is no, Islam does not force belief in Allaah because -).”

Quran 10:100 Koran 10:100 It is not for any soul to believe except by the permission of Allaah and He (Allaah) will place the anger (of Allaah in the hereafter) on those who do not use reason (to follow good behaviour).

Allaah said respect the right of each human to follow their belief.

Quran 109:4 Koran 109:4 And I shall not worship what you worship (that are stone idols).”

Quran 109:5 Koran 109:5Nor shall you worship what I worship (that is Allaah).”

Quran 109:6 Koran 109:6For you is your way (of religion, of belief) and for me is my way (of religion, of belief).”

4. Slaves should be freed.

Allaah has imposed a duty on Muslims to use their wealth to free a slave.

Quran 2:177 Koran 2:177 righteousness is this, that you give away (your) wealth out of love for Him (Allaah) and in freeing the necks (slaves)

Allaah has decreed that marriage is one path to freedom from slavery.

You shall obtain permission from their guardians before you marry them and give them (the girl) their bridal money according to what is reasonable. ..."

Allaah has decreed that sin is forgiven by the freeing of a slave.

Quran 4:92 Koran 4:92 A person with faith in Allaah must not kill another person that also has faith in Allaah except by mistake. Whoever kills a person with faith in Allaah by mistake, (Allaah has ordered that) he must free a slave that has faith in Allaah and pay compensation (blood money) to the dead person’s family, unless (that family) do not want any compensation. If the dead person belonged to a people at war with you and he had faith in Allaah then (Allaah has ordered that) you free a slave that has faith in Allaah. (If the dead person belonged to a people) with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance then (Allaah has ordered that) you pay to his family compensation (blood money) and you must also free a slave that has faith in Allaah. Whoever finds that the (repentance done by the freeing of a slave) is beyond their means then they must fast for two consecutive months so as to seek repentance from Allaah. Allaah is all knowing and all wise.

Allaah has decreed that sin is forgiven by the freeing of a slave.

Quran 5:89 Koran 5:89 Allaah shall not hold you responsible for what is unintentional in your oaths (such as when you become angry and swear in the name of Allaah to do something that you later realize you did not intend, or swear in the name of Allaah during conversation something unintentional during “a slip of speech” when you say something that you did not intend to say, or if you swear in the name of Allaah to do something that later you realize is illegal or the cancelling of oaths made in the name of Allaah when you forbid your self from doing something that Allaah has not forbidden) but He (Allaah) shall hold you responsible for oaths that you sincerely intended. To repent (to Allaah, for breaking an oath that you intentionally gave and that you intended to sincerely fulfill first ask forgiveness from Allaah and then) feed ten needy people with food equal to that which you feed your own people, or cloth them, or free a slave, but for the person for which these are not possible the person should fast for three days (by not eating or drinking during daylight). This is to make amends for your oaths that you have sincerely sworn (in the name of Allaah). But (in future) be careful to fulfill your oaths (that are made intentionally of your free will). Allaah accepts your repentance according to these revelations so that you may give thanks (to Allaah for his mercy).

The use of funds collected for charity to free a slave is a duty imposed by Allaah.

Quran 9:60 Koran 9:60 Charity (Zakah, Zekat) is only for the poor and the needy and those who collect the charity, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled (with Allaah) and to free the captives (or the slaves) and the debtors (those owing money) and for the cause of Allaah and for the (stranded) traveler. It (the distribution of charity) is a duty imposed by Allaah. Allaah is all knowing and wise.

Allaah decreed freedom for slaves through a contract.

Allaah has decreed that sin is forgiven by the freeing of a slave.

Quran 58:3 Koran 58:3 Those who divorce their wives by Zihar (Thihar, by saying that their wife is their mother and therefore unlawful to them as was done by Arabs in Arabia before the time of Islam) and wish to cancel what they said (to cancel the divorce), should free a slave before they (the husband and the wife) touch each other. That is your punishment (so that in future you remember to behave correctly). Allaah is aware of what you do.

Allaah ordered the releasing of wives who disbelieve in Allaah.

Quran 60:10 Koran 60:10 All you who believe (in Allaah),Do not hold on to disbelieving (stone idol worshiping) women as wives and ask for (the return of) what you spent (in your marriage gift, dowry, mahr, mehr, meher, mahrieh) to them (the stone idol worshiping wife) and let them (the disbelievers who worship stone idols also) ask back for what they spent (in their marriage gift, dowry, mahr, mehr, meher, mahrieh for their women who have come to you). That is the Judgement of Allaah. He (Allaah) judges (with justice) between you (the believers and the disbelievers). Allaah knows all and is wise.

Allaah decreed that righteous behaviour is the freeing of slaves.

Quran 90:11 Koran 90:11 But he (the human) has not attempted the (difficult) steep path (of righteousness).

Quran 90:12 Koran 90:12 And what can explain to you (humans) what the (difficult) steep path (of righteousness) is?

Quran 90:13 Koran 90:13 It is the freeing of a slave (or captive). (That is difficult for you to do but it is pleasing to Allaah if you do it).

Quran 98:7 Koran 98:7 And those who believe and do righteous deeds are the best of creations (because they have obeyed Allaah, their creator).

5. The treatment of slaves.

Allaah said do goodness to both your parents and your slaves.

Quran 4:36 Koran 4:36 “… do good for parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, neighbours who are related, neighbours who are strangers, companions that are with you, travellers (whom you meet) and those (slaves) whom your right hands possess (meaning, do goodness to the servants whom you own). Allaah does not like those that are proud and boastful (meaning the good that you do should be done to please Allaah).

Allaah said free the slave.

Allaah said do not force your slave-girls into prostitution.

6. What is to be done with the unprotected hadith stories from humans in the past which contradict the protected words of Allaah and Prophet Muhammad in the Quran today?

Quran 7:185 Koran 7:185 “... In what statement (words, news, reports, information, message, hadith) after (they have heard) this (Quran) would they believe?

Quran 45:6 Koran 45:6 These are the verses of Allaah, We (Allaah through angel Gabriel Jibril) recite them to you (Prophet Muhammad) truthfully. In what statement (words, news, reports, information, message, hadith) will they (the humans and jinn) believe (and trust in) after Allaah and His verses (which they have in the Quran until the Day of Judgement)

Note 1. Allaah asks who will believe the Quran and who will believe a teaching that is different to what Allaah teaches in the Quran?

Quran 77:50 Koran 77:50 In what statement (words, news, reports, information, message, hadith), after it (the verses of Allaah in the Quran), shall they (the humans and the jinn) believe?

Note 1. Quran 7:185, Quran 25:29, Quran 25:30, Quran 31:6, Quran 39:23, Quran 45:6 and Quran 77:50 asks when you have the word of Allaah in the Quran what other report would you believe?

Quran 25:30 Koran 25:30 And (on the Day of Resurrection and Judgement) the messenger (Prophet Muhammad) said, “My Lord (Allaah) my people have abandoned (deserted) this Quran (to follow false messages, false words, false news, false reports, false information, false statements, false hadith).”

Note 1. On the Day of Resurrection and Judgement Prophet Muhammad will say “My Lord my people have abandoned this Quran (to follow false messages, false words, false news, false reports, false information, false statements, false hadith).”

Do not twist inside your mind the meaning of the words of Allaah in the Quran to agree with hadith stories.

If hadith stories agree with the Quran then accept it and learn from it.

If hadith stories do not agree with the Quran then reject it and also learn from it.

On the Day of Judgement Allaah judges by the words in the protected Quran.

On the Day of Judgement Allaah does not judge by the words in unprotected human hadith stories.

The Quran is the protected word of Allaah including the words and actions of Prophet Muhammad which are described and protected by Allaah.

7. Islam removes racism and slavery through righteous behaviour.

Allaah rewards those who do good to people.

Allaah said do good to both your parents and your slaves.

Allaah said do good to please Allaah.

Quran 98:7 Koran 98:7 And those who believe and do righteous deeds are the best of creations (because they have obeyed Allaah, their creator).

Quran 2:177 Koran 2:177 "... righteousness is this, ... and in freeing the necks (slaves) ...".

Note 1. The freeing of any slave both believers and non believers is righteousness.

Quran 4:92 Koran 4:92 "... Whoever killed a believing person who had faith in Allaah by mistake, (Allaah has ordered that) he must free a slave that has faith in Allaah and pay compensation .... If the dead person belonged to a people at war with you and he had faith in Allaah then (Allaah has ordered that) you free a slave that has faith in Allaah. (If the person who was killed belonged to a people Muslim or Non-Muslim) with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance (which Prophet Muhammad made with both Muslims and Non-Muslims) then (Allaah has ordered that) you pay to his family compensation (according to the treaty of mutual alliance) and you must also free a slave that has faith in Allaah. ..."

Note 1. The freeing of a slave who believes cancels sin.
