Chapter : Verse.

(Information in brackets is added to assist readers in the interpretation of the verse).

Quran 59:0 Koran 59:0 Verse 59:0 Ayah 59:0 Ayat 59:0 Aya 59:0 In the name of Allaah, The Most Kind, The Most Merciful.

Quran 59:1 Koran 59:1 Verse 59:1 Ayah 59:1 Ayat 59:1 Aya 59:1 All that is in the heavens and the earth exalts Allaah (because every creation depends on Allaah for its existence). He (Allaah) is al-mighty (the source of all power) and wise (the source of all wisdom).

Quran 59:2 Koran 59:2 Verse 59:2 Ayah 59:2 Ayat 59:2 Aya 59:2 It is He (Allaah) who has caused those of the People of the Scripture (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir) who disbelieved (in Allaah by opposing Allaah’s messenger Prophet Muhammad), to leave their homes (near Yathrib Arabia later called Medina Arabia today Madinah Saudi Arabia) in the first gathering (of the Muslim Army against them). You (Muslims) did not think that they (Banu Nadir) would leave (without a fight), while they (Banu Nadir) thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allaah. But (the decision of) Allaah came to them in a way that they were not expecting (when assistance from the Arab hypocrites in Yathrib failed to come to their aid and brought fear to them) and He (Allaah) put fear (of their defeat) in their hearts so they (the Banu Nadir) destroyed their houses with their own hands (and then surrendered without a fight. They were expelled from Yathrib Arabia in 4AH 625 CE 625 AD some going to Syria and others to Khaybar, Arabia) and (the believers destroyed some palm trees and what remained of the land and property of Banu Nadir fell into) the hands of the believers (the Muslims). So all you who have eyes, learn a lesson (that Allaah supports those who believe in Allaah and Allaah does not support those who are disobedient to Allaah).

Comment 1. Disobedient people are wrongly guided.

Quran 5:108 Verse 5:108 Allaah does not guide disobedient people.

Quran 10:81 Verse 10:81 ... Allaah does not support the work of those that are disobedient (to Allaah).

Comment 2. Obedient people are correctly guided.

Allaah will double the reward in the hereafter to Jews and Christians who follow their Book and also believe the Quran.

See Quran 28:54 comments.

Comment 3. Those who do not understand that the Quran has verses of history that include history about fighting translate the Quran as if those commands are for me and you to fight today.

No those are not commands for me and you to fight today.

They are commands given by Allaah to Prophet Muhammad addressed to those people who lived in the time of the prophet 1400 years ago.

We need to know that the verses about fighting are connected to issues that occurred in history.

See Quran 9:5 comments.

Quran 59:3 Koran 59:3 Verse 59:3 Ayah 59:3 Ayat 59:3 Aya 59:3 And if Allaah had not decreed expulsion (banishment, exile) for them (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir) then He (Allaah) would have punished them (with an even greater punishment during their life) in the world. (The Banu Nadir have been allowed to leave Yathrib with their lives but Allaah has decreed that) for them is the punishment of the Fire in the Hereafter.

Comment 1. See Quran 59:2

Quran 59:4 Koran 59:4 Verse 59:4 Ayah 59:4 Ayat 59:4 Aya 59:4 That is because they (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir) were opposed to Allaah and His (Allaah’s) messenger (Prophet Muhammad). Whoever is opposed to Allaah, for them is a severe punishment.

Comment 1. See Quran 59:2

Quran 59:5 Koran 59:5 Verse 59:5 Ayah 59:5 Ayat 59:5 Aya 59:5 Whatever palm trees (of the Banu Nadir) you cut down or left standing on their roots, it was by Allaah’s permission so that He (Allaah) might disgrace those (people of the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir) who were disobedient (to Allaah).

Comment 1. Quran 59:5 is revealed as forgiveness to those Muslims who destroyed some palm trees because normally in times of fighting it is forbidden to unnecessarily destroy trees and property.

See Quran 59:2

Quran 59:6 Koran 59:6 Verse 59:6 Ayah 59:6 Ayat 59:6 Aya 59:6 And what Allaah returned (of Allaah’s bounty) to His (Allaah’s) messenger (Prophet Muhammad) from them (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir), was not (obtained) because you (Muslims) hurried to them (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir) on horses or on camels (meaning, it was not obtained because you fought because Banu Nadir surrendered without a fight), but Allaah gives His (Allaah’s) messenger (Prophet Muhammad) power over whom He (Allaah) wills. Allaah is able to do all things.

Comment 1. See Quran 59:2

Quran 59:7 Koran 59:7 Verse 59:7 Ayah 59:7 Ayat 59:7 Aya 59:7 Whatever Allaah has given (of Allaah’s bounty) to His (Allaah’s) messenger from the people of the towns, it is (all) for Allaah and His (Allaah’s) messenger (Prophet Muhammad) and for the near relations (of Prophet Muhammad who are the Banu Hashim and Banu Muttalib who receive charity from no other person) and the orphans and the needy and the (stranded) traveller so that it (the properties that have been abandoned by an enemy and therefore were not obtained through fighting) shall not be for the use of those who are the rich among you (Muslims). Take whatever the messenger (Prophet Muhammad) gives to you. And avoid (demanding from what is being distributed) whatever he (Prophet Muhammad) holds back from you. And fear Allaah. Allaah is severe in punishment.

Comment 1. See Quran 59:2

Quran 59:8 Koran 59:8 Verse 59:8 Ayah 59:8 Ayat 59:8 Aya 59:8 And (the properties that have been abandoned by an enemy and therefore were not obtained through fighting is also) for the poor emigrants (the Muhajirin in Yathrib) who were driven out from their homes (by the religious persecution of the stone idol worshippers in Makkah) and (lost) their properties and who seek bounty from Allaah and help (the religion of) Allaah and His (Allaah’s) messenger. They are the truthful (servants of Allaah).

Quran 59:9 Koran 59:9 Verse 59:9 Ayah 59:9 Ayat 59:9 Aya 59:9 And (the properties that have been abandoned by an enemy and therefore were not obtained through fighting is also) for those (Ansar) who established homes (in Yathrib) and faith (in Allaah) before (the arrival of) them (the poor emigrants Muhajirin in Yathrib who fled from the religious persecution of the stone idol worshippers in Makkah). They (the Ansar) love those that emigrated to them and they (the Ansar) had no jealousy in their heart for what they (the poor emigrants Muhajirin) were given (out of the bounty that had belonged to the Banu Nadir). They (the Ansar) give preference to them (the poor emigrants Muhajirin) even though they (the Ansar) are (also) in need. Whoever is protected from greed shall be successful (in the Hereafter).

Quran 59:10 Koran 59:10 Verse 59:10 Ayah 59:10 Ayat 59:10 Aya 59:10 And (the properties that have been abandoned by an enemy and therefore were not obtained through fighting is also) for those who came after them saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who have come before us in (the) belief (in Allaah) and do not put in our hearts any resentment against those who have believed. Our Lord, You (Allaah) are the kindest and the most merciful.”

Quran 59:11 Koran 59:11 Verse 59:11 Ayah 59:11 Ayat 59:11 Aya 59:11 Have you (Prophet Muhammad) not seen the hypocrites (the Arabs hypocrites in Yathrib who said they believed in Allaah but by their action they show they do not believe in Allaah) who say to their brothers (friends, associates) among the people of the Scripture (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir of Yathrib) who disbelieve (in Allaah because they oppose Allaah and Allaah’s messenger), “If you (Banu Nadir of Yathrib) are expelled we (the Arab hypocrites of Yathrib) shall go away with you (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir of Yathrib), and we shall never obey any one against you, and if you are attacked then we shall help you." But Allaah is witness that they are liars (because). –

Quran 59:12 Koran 59:12 Verse 59:12 Ayah 59:12 Ayat 59:12 Aya 59:12 If they (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir of Yathrib) are driven out then they (the Arab hypocrites of Yathrib who promised to depart with them) do not depart with them, and if they (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir of Yathrib) are attacked then they (the Arab hypocrites of Yathrib who promised to fight with them) do not help them, and if they (the Arab hypocrites of Yathrib) had helped them (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir of Yathrib) then they (the Arab hypocrites of Yathrib) would have turned and fled, and from then on they (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir of Yathrib) would not have been helped (by anyone).

Quran 59:13 Koran 59:13 Verse 59:13 Ayah 59:13 Ayat 59:13 Aya 59:13 You (Muslims who are believers in Allaah) are a greater fear in their hearts than (their fear of) Allaah. That is because they (the Arab hypocrites in Yathrib who are allies of the disobedient Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir in Yathrib both) are a people who do not understand (that humans should only fear Allaah and not fear humans).

Quran 59:14 Koran 59:14 Verse 59:14 Ayah 59:14 Ayat 59:14 Aya 59:14 They (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir in Yathrib) shall not fight against you except from inside fortified towns or from behind walls. Disagreement among them (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir in Yathrib) is very great. You (Muslims) think they are united but their hearts are divided (because each person among them only thinks about themselves instead of all of them thinking about Allaah). That is because they are a people who have no sense (to know that humans should only fear Allaah and not fear humans).

Quran 59:15 Koran 59:15 Verse 59:15 Ayah 59:15 Ayat 59:15 Aya 59:15 They (the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir of Yathrib) in 4AH 625 CE 625 AD) are like those (who did evil and who lived) before them (the Jewish tribe of Banu Qaynuqa of Yathrib in 2 AH 624 CE 624 AD) who tasted the evil result of their own conduct. They (both Banu Nadir and Banu Qainuqa) shall have a painful punishment (in the Hereafter).

Quran 59:16 Koran 59:16 Verse 59:16 Ayah 59:16 Ayat 59:16 Aya 59:16 They (the Arab hypocrites in Yathrib who avoid confrontations with Allaah and Allaah’s messenger) are like Satan Shaitan when he (Satan Shaitan) says to humans, “Disbelieve (in Allaah)” but when humans disbelieve (in Allaah) then he (Satan Shaitan runs away and) says, “I am not associating with you (anymore) because I (Satan Shaitan) fear Allaah who is the Lord of the Worlds.”

Quran 59:17 Koran 59:17 Verse 59:17 Ayah 59:17 Ayat 59:17 Aya 59:17 And the result for both (the Arab hypocrites in Yathrib and the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir in Yathrib) who denied the truth of Allaah and Allaah’s messenger) shall be that they are in the Fire forever. That is the reward for evildoers (in the Hereafter).

Quran 59:18 Koran 59:18 Verse 59:18 Ayah 59:18 Ayat 59:18 Aya 59:18 All you who believe; fear Allaah. And let every soul look at what it sends forward (from its actions today because) tomorrow (you shall be judged on the Day of Judgement). Fear Allaah because Allaah knows what you do.

Quran 59:19 Koran 59:19 Verse 59:19 Ayah 59:19 Ayat 59:19 Aya 59:19 And do not be like those (Arab hypocrites in Yathrib and the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir in Yathrib) who forgot Allaah and so He (Allaah) made them (the Arab hypocrites in Yathrib and the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir in Yathrib) forget their souls. They (the Arab hypocrites in Yathrib and the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir in Yathrib) are disobedient (to Allaah).

Quran 59:20 Koran 59:20 Verse 59:20 Ayah 59:20 Ayat 59:20 Aya 59:20 The companions of the fire (in Hell Jahannam) and the companions of the garden (in Paradise Jannah) are not the same. The companions of the garden (in Paradise Jannah) are the achievers (of success in the Hereafter).

Quran 59:21 Koran 59:21 Verse 59:21 Ayah 59:21 Ayat 59:21 Aya 59:21 If We (Allaah) had caused this Quran to descend on a mountain then you (Prophet Muhammad) would have seen it (the mountain) humbled and broken apart from its fear of Allaah. This example We (Allaah) give to people so that they might think (about the fact that every creation depends on Allaah for its existence).

Quran 59:22 Koran 59:22 Verse 59:22 Ayah 59:22 Ayat 59:22 Aya 59:22 He (the creator of every creation) is Allaah, other than Him (Allaah) there is no other Allaah (no other creator of all the creations), He (Allaah) knows the unseen (everything you do not know) and the seen (everything you know). He (Allaah) is the most kind and most merciful.

Quran 59:23 Koran 59:23 Verse 59:23 Ayah 59:23 Ayat 59:23 Aya 59:23 He (the creator of every creation) is Allaah, other than Him (Allaah) there is no other Allaah (no other creator of all the creations), The King (Al-Malik), The Holy one (Al-Qudus), The source of Peace and Freedom from all evil (As-Salaam), The Guardian of Faith (Al-Mu'min), The one who determines what is True and what is False (Al-Muhaymin), The Almighty (Al-Aziz), The Subduer of what is wrong and the Restorer of what is right and The Compelling or Subduer of anything (Al-Jabbar), The Supreme and The Wonderful (Al-Mutakabbir). Allaah is exalted high above anything that they (mistakenly) associate as being a partner (to Allaah, when people mistakenly pray to any creation such as an idol, a saint, a prophet or anything that Allaah created instead of correctly praying only to the one Allaah who is invisible to our eyes yet we can see Allaah has created every creation).

Quran 59:24 Koran 59:24 Verse 59:24 Ayah 59:24 Ayat 59:24 Aya 59:24 He Allaah is the creator, the inventor and the shaper (of every creation). To Him (Allaah) belong the most beautiful names. All that is in the heavens and the earth exalts Him (Allaah) and He (Allaah) is the mighty and the wise.
