Makes approximately 6 dozen 2-inch treats.

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 egg

1/2 cup pumpkin puree

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

2 cups whole-wheat flour

1/4 cup cornmeal

1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons quick cook oats

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In the bowl of food processor, add applesauce, egg, and pumpkin. Pulse to combine.

Add flour, cornmeal, cinnamon and oats to pumpkin mixture and process until dough comes together.

Turn dough onto floured surface and knead and roll out to ¼ inch thick and cut into shapes. (Add additional flour if needed if dough is too sticky). Reroll scraps and repeat.

Place treats on parchment or greased cookie sheet and bake *12 minutes - 15 minutes and remove when treats are firm and edges are starting to brown. Cool on a wire rack and store treats in airtight container. Extra treats can be frozen.

*if using larger size cutters, increase baking time.
