Powers: Projected illusions. These illusions can be as simple as changing her eye color to blue or more complex like changing scenery or creating people and objects where there are none. The illusions themselves are made up of energy, so in some ways the illusions do have limited weight and shape to them, so if one were to touch an illusion it would be solid and their hand would not pass through, or if hit by an illusion it would actually hurt. All damages caused within the illusion, even though it itself is not real, can become real if the person believes so - such as the person will not be actually physically harmed, but will believe they are, and those not in good health or with weak minds could pass out, go into shock, or have a heart attack or stroke in reaction to the trauma.
Power Limitations: Blair can connect to any number of minds within a thirty yard radius from her, but the illusions will not affect anyone who steps out of that range or is too far away to start with. Her powers fool only the minds of those around her, and so have no affect on video cameras, sentinels, ect. Her powers do not work on telepaths or on those who are psychically immune - such as her powers would not work on Magneto and Juggernaut, if they were wearing their helmets. She can only hold complex illusions for around ten minutes, but minor changes to her own appearance will last for hours. Blair has no access to the thoughts and memories of the minds she connects to and does not have any psychic powers.
Hobbies and Interests: Blair is a complete pack rat and loves collecting anything, such as random knickknacks, legos, hats, art, music, purses, shoes, stuffed animals, toys, and especially anything tiny or cute - you name it, she has a lot of it. One of her favorite places to go are thrift stores because they have so many random things
for her to buy cheap. She loves anime, cosplay, fashion, foreign movies, Clover's magic, and the club scene.
Background: Blair grew up in Bronx, New York, with her younger sister and father and while she has a few fleeting memories of her mother, the woman didn't stick around long. Blair more or less raised herself and her sister, since their father always had reasons not to be home, and when he was around he didn't seem like he wanted to be bothered. The family never had a lot of money and while their father wasn't outright horrible to them, he obviously thought nothing of them most of the time. When Blair was young her sister was her best friend, and the two of them were completely inseparable - Rory was always thinking up schemes or games to keep them occupied. This lead to the two of them getting into a lot of trouble at a young age, but sometimes their antics were as simple as dressing up in ridiculous outfits just for the fun of it, which spawned Blair's early interest in fashion.Blair found out she was a mutant at a young age and often used her powers to her advantage - she'd take Rory to expensive clothing shops to get whatever she wanted without actually spending a dime. A lot of her powers development was due to Rory's ideas to get away with this or that, and sometimes trouble came back on them ten fold - but Blair always managed to swoop in for the rescue just in time. Blair was always looking out for her little sister, and in her mind, Rory could do no wrong - even when she did. Blair was shy in school, and tended to want to stay home rather than go out - but once Rory hit a certain age, her sister was go go go and so Blair always went along with her for the ride. Typically she did what other people wanted to do, and was always nervous about making friends or being liked, so she became somewhat of a 'yes man,' willing to do anything to get some praise from friends or anyone else. The two sisters became very popular in school, but even more so with an older crowd, and were always allowed into bars and clubs even though they were underage.Their father left them while they were both in high school, Blair came home from class one day to find his room cleaned out and anything of value in the apartment gone. She was upset, but really shouldn't of been surprised, and Rory seemed to see this as an opportunity to get away with even more, to lead their own lives without anyone having any say. They didn't want to get separated and put into foster care, so Blair faked him still being around as much as she could - but staying in school was difficult when no one was telling them to go, so eventually their absenteeism was noticed, and the fact Liam had skipped town discovered. Blair blamed some of their friends for telling on them and before she could figure out how to fix the damage done child services were knocking on their door. Rory decided they should run, choosing a life on the streets and to drop out of school over being separated.
This went okay for awhile, on the cold nights Blair was able to get them into hotel rooms for free, and often they were crashing at friends houses or staying in the back rooms of clubs if the owners liked them. It made life difficult and stressful though, and there was always drama or danger at every turn, especially when rumors about the sisters being mutants started to circle around the other street kids. It got to the point where everyone knew them, and wherever they went they were turned away and treated like trash. The police and child services were always just around the corner, and Rory was suddenly starting to get sick.
Rory and Blair were always talking about the future, what they could do to become rockstars, or be famous, and where they would go next - on the good days, being homeless wasn't so bad, but the good days were becoming fewer and fewer. Rory's health was getting worse, which was strange considering her powers, and one day Rory passed out and started getting noise bleeds. Nothing Blair could do would wake her sister up so she eventually got someone to take them to the hospital - it turned out Rory had leukemia, or at least that is what the doctors thought. They weren't willing to do much more testing without money involved, and illusions could only do so much. Blair did the best she could, but doctors started turning them away and more and more questions about who they were and where they were from were being asked. Each lie she said seemed to come back and bite her, and things were looking worse for Rory.
When a new doctor came into their life, it seemed like a dream come true - she was a scientist and a mutant, and so seemed sympathetic to their situation and was willing to help Rory if they helped her. A roof over their heads with free room and board, food, and everything else they could ever want sounded pretty good, but Blair was still hesitant - because there was always a catch. It was Rory who decided to say yes to the offer, explaining how much better she felt after just one day of treatment from Mrs. Sinister. Rory seemed to think that mutant suffering had gone on long enough, and the two of them needed to choose a side - they couldn't side with the humans that had already turned their backs on them over and over throughout their lives, so eventually Blair agreed. For Rory, it seemed like life or death, and Blair would always help her sister no matter the cost.
Blair and Rory remained with Sinister for a little over a year, and though Rory kept receiving treatments her condition only seemed to worsen. Blair hated living among the Marauders and hated even more having to go along with everything Sinister wanted. She became very isolated and rarely talked to anyone but her sister, and rarely left her own room. No one was normal and she wanted to leave but she knew she had to stay for Rory's sake. The last straw came when Marco, a fellow marauder who had always had a thing for her, tried to attack and rape her. Her sister intervened just in time and the two of them were able to fight him off and get away.
Though Rory was hesitant to leave the organization due to her health problems, it was decided that would indeed break out on their own and hope for the best. To the surprise of both sister’s they discovered that Sinister’s “medicine” was not helping her recover but was in fact the cause of her illness. This revelation sparked a new sense of surrealistic nature in the Winchombe’s. From that day on they were going to look out for each other no matter what, never again would they be taken advantage of.
One day, the sisters encountered Clover Young. A dazzling and enigmatic mutant with some astounding abilities. The Winchombe’s decided to include Clover as an honorary sister. Before long they got to know Clover's old friend, Meredith, and a few others. Down the road they adopted a few more “sisters” eventually they started calling themselves The Sisterhood.
The Sisterhood didn't side with Apocalypse, nor did they overly support humans. They kept themselves independent, only looking out for each other. Most the time they lived life by stealing - not only food or supplies to add to their impressive base, but magical items and artifacts to make Clover more powerful. Blair knew the stronger they got the less likely people were to step all over them, but for her, it was about community and friendship. Most of all, it was about keeping Rory safe.
They had a few unsavory run ins with the X-Men over the years, especially when Rory seemed to fall for one of the guys who turned out to be not so great. They'd heard news that the X-Men's base had been destroyed by sentinels, an occurrence that was becoming more and more common as Therizo came out of their territory to terrorize mutants. What they weren't expecting was the X-Men to come poking around their base, thinking it was empty - it wasn't.
Rather than throwing them out on their butts, Clover was hospitable to the small group, and it was during these few days that Blair met Mercer. She was smitten immediately, she thought he was adorable and more interesting than anyone she'd talked to in a long time. Once it became time for the X-Men to leave, she kept in contact with Dallas and was able to pop by for a few surprise visits to see Mercer.
Blair kept this a secret from the Sisterhood, knowing they wouldn't like it, especially Rory. When their home was attacked by sentinels, forcing the girls to flee, Clover revealed she'd known where she'd been going all along. The Sisterhood leader felt it was time the X-Men repaid the favor, and the Sisterhood showed up at Phoenix Cove, expecting to be allowed to stay. It didn't go smoothly, but a shaky agreement was made.
Living among the X-Men wasn't bad at all. For the most part, people were very nice to Blair, so she wasn't sure what Clover and June were complaining about. She generally stayed out of people's way, though, and just spent time with Mercer. Everything seemed to be going well until Clover got tired of the X-Men treating the Sisterhood like second class citizens. She picked a fight with Tremaine and no amount of begging on Blair's part could make the X-Men reconsider their exile. They were kicked off the island with no food, supplies or shelter with only the clothes on their back.
Life outside was a nightmare. If they didn't run into Sentinels, it was some fanatic looking to score points with the Horsemen. They were wanted in the Apocalypse territory and could take no shelter in the mutant cities. Food was hard to come by, and if they found a place to stay that was safe one night, it was sure to be compromised by the next. She missed Mercer so much, but there was no way for them to go back to the island.
Then Rory got sick. At first Blair thought it was the leukemia coming back, or maybe she was just weak from lack of rest and food, but that turned out not to be the case at all. She'd been affected by the Therizo nano virus, she was being changed into a Sentinel before her eyes. Blair was completely helpless to do anything, and one day, Rory just snapped and turned on them. She'd been taken over by Therizo. June and Clover were forced to kill her.
The loss of her little sister crushed Blair, the one person she'd always promised to protect, and there was little anyone could do to comfort her. She had never been more hopeless in her life, she could barely move. All she did was cry. They buried Rory and were forced to move on, comfort turning to threats that they would leave her behind if she didn't snap out of it.
No one was expecting it when Rory showed up again, a ghost of the little girl she'd raised, now a full-blown Bio-Sentinel, trying to kill them all again. Blair couldn't talk sense into her. It was just harder to accept her sister was dead when she could see her standing right in front of her eyes.
Rory was tough before, but now, she was unstoppable. The Sisterhood survived, just barely, but every time they put Rory down she regenerated and came back. Then a third time, and another. There was no safety anywhere, and it broke her heart every time she had to face Rory again - a shell of who her sister used to be.
Personality: Blair is generally mousy and timid around people she is not comfortable with. When it comes to her sister and friends, she is kind, with a lively since of humor that can be dramatic and energetic. She will usually avoid conflict at all costs and will blame herself when things go wrong, and not give herself credit when things go right. She tends to put other people she cares about first and can be fiercely protective of friends and loved ones, sometimes forgetting her own opinion, needs or safety in the process. She "smothers" her loved ones, especially her little sister, and is paranoid of new people - both because she is shy, and because she has come to expect the worst. She is probably the most boy crazy of the Sisterhood.
Special Notes: Model: Audrey Kitching. She had a gray tabby named James St. James, now belongs to Mercer.
