Other: June has a metallic ring inscribed with runes around her neck. The ring is completely solid, with no apparent openings. The runes glow a dark red/purple. She stays covered up from head to toe in dark clothing, to cover the extensive scars that cover her body.
Date Of Birth: April 15
Place Of Birth: Centerville, Iowa
Education: Some High school
Mutant Powers:
Friction control:
June can raise or lower the friction on an object. For instance, she can increase the friction on her shoes and be able to sprint across a frozen lake where others would slip and fall. She can also lower the friction on any object. For example, she can cause the tires of a car that's chasing her to lose friction and thus the driver loses control of the vehicle. On the offensive side, she could dial up the friction on someone's clothes, making it painful or even damaging for them to move.
Enhanced Strength:
June's physical strength has become much greater. She is able to lift and throw up to three tons (the weight of an average car). She is able to bend steel bars and perform other feats of strength in this range.
Using her strength and friction powers in combination, June can climb walls/vertical surfaces.
Power Limitations: She can only use her friction powers on inanimate objects, and she must be able to see the object to affect it, unless she is touching/wearing it (As in, she doesn't have to look at her shoes to affect them).
June is not any tougher or more durable than a normal human, despite her greater strength.
If she punches a brick wall it will hurt, at the very least bruising and breaking the skin
even if her technique is perfect. If she's hit, or shot, it will hurt just as much as it would a normal person.
Background: June grew up in a small town with a single mother and her naïve little sister, Meredith. June worked hard in school and athletics, but nothing she did seemed to please her mother. June was also born with blue hair, an embarrassment for her mother who was a member of the Friends of Humanity and completely intolerant of mutants. June had to dye her hair black from a young age, and was under constant threat of being thrown out of the house. When she was a teenager, her mutant abilities manifested. Her little sister Meredith was the only one who knew about June’s powers, and she kept the secret well until June almost burned the house down by accident. Meredith spilled everything, and June was kicked out of the house. June stayed in town, hoping to change her mom’s mind, but then the police showed up at her hiding place and she was shot trying to escape. She woke up in a cold basement room, about to be autopsied by the local coroner. She knocked him away and tried to run, but she was apprehended by the military and taken away for experimentation. Her family had been told she was dead; June was completely on her own.Through years of experiments, torture, and surveillance, June hung onto her Buddhist upbringing, trying to keep an even outlook even when everything looked dark. She could feel a dark presence inside of her, as though a door had been opened inside of her. She fought against the darkness inside of her by meditating and keeping her mind clear. The government’s “scientists” had her body, but she wouldn’t forfeit her soul.
One day, long after she’d given up hope, she was rescued by a woman named Clover, the leader of a group called the Sisterhood that included June’s little sister Meredith. Their reunion was bitter, once June found out that Meredith was the reason she’d been caught by the police, and their relationship has been icy ever since.
Clover discovered the cause of June’s enhanced strength; June’s ancestry had a connection to a hostile plane of existence. It’s a mystery why Meredith doesn’t have that same connection, unless they aren’t full sisters as they’d always been told. June’s latent abilities were awakened when she was ‘killed,’ and the dark influence of her ancestors threatens to turn her against all life in this world. June had successfully fought her evil urges for years, but Clover didn’t trust June’s willpower. She put a collar around June’s neck that limits her connection to the other plane, and gives Clover control over June in case she ever goes bad. June resents Clover’s interference without being given a choice in the matter.
June grew more resentful of the collar and started showing small rebellions that amounted to not resisting her dark side as much as she once did. When the United States fell completely, she would have chosen a different side, but she was stuck with Clover. Eventually the Sisterhood was granted shelter by the X-Men, but when Clover and June tried to kill a couple of them, they were booted from the island.
They fell on some hard times after that. If they didn't run into Sentinels, it was some fanatic looking to score points with the Horsemen. Food was hard to come by, and if they found a place to stay that was safe one night, it was sure to be compromised by the next. Then Rory got sick. She'd been infected a long time before anyone noticed, and by then, she had already been taken over by Therizo. The Sisterhood was forced to kill her.
They buried her and moved on. June watched the others try to comfort Blair, but June felt more and more like she was on the outside of all of this. She'd been able to fight against Rory with everything she had, no hesitation, and she could see the way the Sisterhood looked at her after. Like they were starting to see what was really inside her.
No one was expecting it when Rory showed up again, a full-blown Bio-Sentinel, and tried to kill them all again. The Sisterhood survived, just barely, but even though they put Rory down she regenerated and came back. Then a third time, and another. There is no safety anywhere, and if it wasn't for the collar, June would have thrown Meredith over her shoulder and walked away long ago.
Personality: After years of meditation and practice, June has mastered having a Zen frame of mind, and doesn’t allow her emotions to rule her. She had a geeky streak, and refers to herself as a Jedi wannabe, resisting the lure of the Dark side. She has a strong sense of loyalty that keeps her close to her little sister, even though they aren’t on speaking terms most of the time.
Special Notes: Played by Erika Toda.
