Powers: Clover can enhance the abilities of other mutants when her skin glows bright white. Often this results in an temporary heightened state; a mutant may feel stronger and more energized, with their powers pushed to their full limit. Occasionally the affects are more unpredictable, as Clover can trigger untapped genetic potential within mutants. She could cause regular mutants to mutate physically at a rapid rate, powers to change completely or spiral out of control, and other mostly undesired results.
Magical: Clover is an accomplished environmental Sorceress, though her position on the Winding Way limits her to twenty spells a day. She is particularly skilled at conjurations (fire, wind, lightning, barriers) and banishments (dispelling magic constructs, illusions, quelling fire, ect). She lacks power in the psychic magic forms, so spells such as mind reading, astral projection, controlling the minds/bodies of others have never worked for her. Also the distortion of time and travel (dimension hopping, time manipulations, teleportation, levitation, ect) are impossible for her without the help of a mystical object that specializes in the particular task. She currently only has an item that assists with levitation.
Magical Items: Clover possesses a Soulsword of Bata's Circle that is stored inside her at all times and can be summoned to the palm of her hand when needed. The Soulsword can be used to physically attack beings but is more commonly used for it's mystical attributes, such as increased strength, absorbing magical spells, disrupting magical constructs / creatures and deflecting energy based attacks. There are other magical and mystical benefits like augmenting the power behind spells, hexes, and curses. Clover has yet to unlock the swords true potential, as her mentor died before he could train her any further.
Norn Stone Ring: A ring crafted in it's entirety from a small Stone of Norn is used by Clover to levitate herself, small objects and others, giving the appearance of flight. Each Sisterhood member is given a ring with a small piece inside, allowing Clover to summon them to her by request or instant teleportation. June has the largest piece of the Norn Stone as well as a Bloodgem infused into her collar, as Clover has crafted runes to help limit and control the evil manifestation of June's abilities.
Clover has other magical items she has collected over the years, but the purpose of these is usually limited to spell casting, which requires ritual and preparation, and are not often carried on her person on a day to day basis. See Special Notes below for more information and specific spells Clover knows how to wield.
Power Limitations: While Clover can normally control when her enhancement power is in affect, it often triggered in response to physical pain or emotional distress. Only those within twenty yards of Clover are affected by her powers, and the results escalate the closer one stands. She cannot control who her power affects, and the results will be different from mutant to mutant.
All magical beings, including Clover, cannot fling the same spell over and over, a certain number of spells must be picked and prepared for the day. The amount of spells available is determined by the position of the user on the Winding Way ie their level of power. An example of this limitation is a fireball spell could only be used once, unless Clover prepared multiple for the day. Each spell is cast halfway and held at the ready until they either go to sleep or the spell is used. Being knocked unconscious would knock all the spells from their mind, which is a huge disadvantage. Magical items do not have this limitation, which is one reason why Clover pursues them.
The Soulsword will only adsorb and deflect magical and energy based attacks when the sword is outside of Clover's body and the attack is directed at her specifically. Clover can still be harmed if she doesn't see the attack coming and doesn't have the sword up to act as a shield. The strength granted by the Soulsword is merely an impressive increase, she is strong but could not lift a car and throw it. The strength is active at all times as long as the sword is in her possession. Separately, the Norn Stone Ring can only be used to teleport her sisters to her, not to teleport herself and others wherever or whenever she wants.
Hobbies and Interests: Clover loves shopping, all types of music, art house movies, and is an animal rights freak. She's vegan, eats no animal by-products or meats, and also doesn't use or wear animal materials like wool or silk. She also loves fashion design and working with fabrics, her favorite being Lolita; she makes most of her own clothes and jewelry. She can cross stitch, hemp, knit and use the sewing machine like a maniac. She also loves to draw, sketch and paint.
Background: Amy became pregnant with Clover when she was still married to James, Dallas's father. The marriage was an unhappy one and the two had only married out of convenience when Dallas was born. They divorced on counts of adultery. Amy was unable to get custody of Dallas and moved in with Wayne across the state. She was happy to be in a new promising marriage and was overjoyed when Clover was born. Clover grew up in a happy family, middle class, and had a strong bond to both her parents, especially her mom. Clover and Amy connected through Clover's love of art and design, Amy helped her daughter make her first dress, and taught her how to sew and knit. Amy always fully supported her daughter on anything she'd ever done, and the two were always good friends. Considering Amy wasn't the most mature mother around, and acted as much of a kid as Clover, if not more so.Clover's mutation started out slowly, causing her to gradually get shorter, paler, and thinner. It was actually well accepted by the family, though Clover was in a lot of pain. Amy feared taking her mutant daughter to the hospital would cause unwanted trouble. Running out of options Amy soon came to the conclusion that the United States was simply not a safe place for her lovely angel. Amy and Wayne soon smuggled the family to Japan. She reached out to Dallas to join them but he was about to start his senior year and opted to stay behind until he graduated. Her family seemed to do alright in the foreign land. They managed to befriend an ex shaman and local business owner by the name of Wong Kan. Using his abilities he was able to stunt Clover’s mutation from deteriorating her body. He was happy to employ Amy at his shop and help the family get by in anyway, and over time the family became very close to the shaman. As a young girl, Clover was easily swayed by Wong’s charms and spells.
It was soon decided that Clover would be taken under Wong’s wing as his apprentice. Clover spent the next several years of her life high in the mountains learning different magic and the ways of the shinobi. Though the training was vigorous, Clover still managed to find time to shop in Shinjuku. She loved keeping up with the latest fashion trends and never gave up on her love of design.
Unbeknownst to Clover, Wong’s intentions were not as pure as they seemed. In reality Wong was intending to turn Clover into the perfect thief and Sorceress. Eventually he eliminated Amy and Wayne to guarantee Clover would remain his. To achieve his goal, Wong tasked Clover with stealing a soulsword. Though it was not in anyway an easy thing to do, Clover accomplished her goal. Wong wasted no time in training Clover with the blade.
One evening Clover discovered that Wong had murdered her parents. The rage and grief she felt were beyond anything she ever experienced, she couldn't imagine life without her mom. Distraught, Clover disappeared from the mountain for a little over a weeks time. But as quickly as she had left she returned again, just like that, as if nothing had ever happened. She and Wong continued to hone her magical abilities and harnessing the sword for a years time. That is, until Clover decided she was ready enough.
Though Clover has always been an extreme animal rights activist and campaigner against harming another living creature, Wong had taken away her father, mother and best friend, it was not something she could forgive. After five years training, it was time for Clover to act on the revenge she had been planning ever so carefully since her week away. Clover had been stealing and hiding some of Wong’s ancient magics and items over the past year.
One night Clover used these stolen abilities to erupt a massive fire throughout Wong’s training compound. She engulfed large chunks of the mountain to guarantee no one that may have been party to Wong’s sin would make it out alive. Before escaping the complex Clover hunted down Wong and savagely decapitated him with the very soulsword he had pushed her to pursue. She was surprised to find out that by slaying Wong she also absorbed his abilities and became much more powerful, thanks to her position advancement on the Winding Way.
With her new found power Clover struck out on her own, her initial intention to start a normal life, perhaps go into fashion design, but she couldn’t ignore the state of the world and the nagging hunger for more power. With the limit to how many spells she could cast daily, Clover began a search for magical items Wong had taught her about, which could augment her magical abilities significantly.
Clover’s travels eventually brought her back to America which seemed to be at the heart of the battle between humans and mutants. There she met some new friends, mainly the Winchombe sisters Rory and Blair and Meredith Yu. Clover took a liking to the girls and immediately saw their potential in helping her achieve her goals, and Meredith Yu became her closest friend. As their little gang of misfits only grew and grew, Clover decided to coin the name the Sisterhood.
The Sisterhood stuck together and took care of each other over all others. They assisted Clover in her pursuit of more power in exchange for protection as the United States only worsened when the war broke out. With no fondness for Apocalypse or Therizo, the Sisterhood tried to lay low and stay out of the fight, though had many run ins with the X-Men, Therizo and the Horseman over the years. She eventually found a home for her sisters in an old SHIELD base that was well protected and hidden underground.
Despite the danger, Clover had no intention of ceasing her ambition of collecting mystical artifacts and building her magical abilities. She got a bit greedy when she discovered one of the Horseman carried a mystical dagger once owned by Ozymandias, the scribe of Apocalypse, and decided to try and pull off an impossible heist. They were discovered and attacked, and while her brother Dallas was able to teleport them to safety, he was not so lucky. Knowing a rescue attempt would be suicide, Clover had no choice but to leave her brother. She planned on rescuing him someday, once she had enough power to confront the Horsemen head on.
When she was made aware of an Infinity Gem on earth, Clover saw her chance. The powerful item could do nothing but destruction in Apocalypse's hands, so she reached out to the X-Men to form a truce of sorts, the two teams combining efforts in an attempt to steal the gem. Of course, her intention was to end up with the gem, but this plan was foiled when Tremaine Harper used it's power to kill Apocalypse, and then the X-Men foolishly threw the gem away into the darkforce dimension, lost in the black forever. It could have been used to take out Therizo, but now that chance was wasted. What was worse, her rescued brother choose to side with the X-Men and did not return back with her.
Clover and Dallas had cut ties, but Blair kept in contact, using Dallas's teleportation abilities to visit one of the X-Men she'd grown fond of, a mutate by the name of Mercer Chant. Clover knew about what was happening but didn't see any harm in it, at least not until their home was attacked by Therizo and completely destroyed. Several of her girls were killed, and the Sisterhood was left on the desolate streets with no where to go. It was time to bring Blair's secret to the forefront, and she got the girl to show them where the X-Men's secret base was, which turned out to be an entire island.
She was expecting the X-Men to reject them, so she came with a bargaining chip - a Merlin stone. The island was vulnerable and could be easily attacked by Therizo any moment. She used the stone and a powerful repulsion spell to create a displacement field around the island, which made it invisible and prevented anyone from finding it. The person powering the shield had to keep it active by siphoning magical energy, including a weekly recharge, and Clover agreed to do this for as long as the Sisterhood was welcome on the island.
Everything seemed to be going well until Clover got tired of the X-Men treating the Sisterhood like second class citizens. Tremaine picked a fight with her at the wrong time and she decided to make him pay for it. June backed her up and fight with the leaders of the X-Men ensued, and ultimately it ended in their exile. They were kicked off the island with no food, supplies or shelter with only the clothes on their back. Clover was deeply betrayed that her brother Dallas did not come with them. And what was worse, she was unable to retrieve the Merlin stone.
Clover tried to do right by her Sisters and take care of them, but still, times were tough. If they didn't run into Sentinels, it was some fanatic looking to score points with the Horsemen. They were wanted in the Apocalypse territory and could take no shelter in the mutant cities. Food was hard to come by, and if they found a place to stay that was safe one night, it was sure to be compromised by the next. Then Rory got sick. She'd been infected a long time before anyone noticed, and by then, she had already been taken over by Therizo. The Sisterhood was forced to kill her.
Blair was a mess after losing her little sister and there was little anyone could do to comfort her. They buried Rory and were forced to move on. No one was expecting it when Rory showed up again, a full-blown Bio-Sentinel, and tried to kill them all again. The Sisterhood survived, just barely, but even though they put Rory down she regenerated and came back. Then a third time, and another. There was no safety anywhere, and it broke her heart for Blair every time she had to face Rory again - a shell of who their friend used to be.
Personality: Clover likes to stand out to express who she really is inside; one of a kind, a true individual. She wants to be beautiful, weird, crazy and fun all rolled up into one freaked out piece of artwork; herself. She is assertive, open, and a social butterfly at their best. She is a girl that knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to get it - no matter the cost. She has a tendency to make up words and uses lots of slang.
Special Notes:
Model: Annasophia Robb.
Additional noteworthy magical items below:
Siege Perilous - A mystical key allowing entry and visions of parallel worlds and alternate realities. It was obtained by Clover to gain knowledge on other worlds, their magics and items. She is hoping to harness it's power to one day undo Apocalypse's damage, or create an outlet for herself and her sisters if fleeing reality becomes their only option.
The Book of Vishanti - This book contains the most powerful white/order magic spells known. It's spells can never be used for offense, only for defense. It seems to have an endless number of pages. It was stolen from Wong years ago, and she has still barely made a dent in it's chapters.
Spells learned from the Book of Vishanti; the Seven Rings of Raggadorr (seven blue rings that continuously deflect attacks), the Shield of Seraphim (as a temporary protective barrier), Colotor's Protective Spell (less temporary, cannot attack outside of it), the Crytorryk Illusions such as the Spell of Invisibility and the Images of Ikonn (creates harmless duplicates of herself to confuse an enemy). Spell of Repulsion (force field when placed on buildings or items), the Gorgerell Self-Healing Spell and Terranotti Healing Spell (for others). Also the Sorcerer's Sphere, which is a black colored bubble that protects the Sorcerer inside and absorbs all the mystical energy in the surrounding area. The absorbing process normally takes at least an hour, but Clover usually sleeps in this for maximum affect.
Book of Cagliostro - A collection of mystic knowledge gathered from numerous sources, including passages of the Darkhold (black magic). Spells learned from this book; the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak (to bind enemies), Bolts of Balthakk (lightning), Faltine Fires (fireballs, rings of fire, ect), the Demons of Denak (manifests as invisible claws to attack), Dyzakk's Cage (holds large group of people captive), Daggers of Daveroth (projectile weapons), Seven Suns of Cinnibus (an powerful energy blast said to be as hot as seven suns.)
