Powers: Pietro, like all other Atlanteans has an extended life. Atlanteans living an average of two to three hundred years. Also like all Atlanteans he has a higher agility, speeds and reaction times then most people. This comes from living on the bottom of the ocean under the intense pressures of the sea. Like his father, Namor, he possesses super human strength and durability. Unlike his father he can not fly. He can swim around sixty miles an hour when in direct contact with water. His body is regenerated and he is pushed back to full strength from contact with water, preferably sea water. Pietro is also able to breath both oxygen and H2O with ease, both being natural sources of air for him. His mutant ability enhanced strength, he can lift around sixty tons.
Power Limitations: The longer that Pietro is away from water the weaker he gets. This doesn't happen quickly, but can be sped up by high temperatures or fire. Just like anyone else becoming dehydrated, it just has a more drastic affect on Pietro. When his body diminishes in power his strength goes down as well returning to normal human levels at his weakest. His regeneration with water is not an instant heal, his body just heals faster then a normal person if he is in contact with water and slower then a normal persons if he is deprived of water. His agility isn't anywhere near the levels of those with an agility power, but it is better then the most humans.
Hobbies and Interests: Pietro is interested in general marine life, the ocean itself. He is also interested in horseback riding. As a young child his mother used to take him horseback riding. He likes microwaves and other human technologies they don't have in Atlantis. He enjoys training and working out, he also enjoys telling others what to do and at times has trouble disconnecting himself from the Princely side of things. He has become very interested in food as well, loving to try new things and being willing to eat most anything offered to him.
Background: Pietro's life began as the bastard child of an affair. Susan Storm, the Invisible Woman, was living in Atlantis with his father Namor. Though married, Storm believed her family to be lost to her because of one of Reed's many mishap adventures. She stayed with Namor and became pregnant with Pietro. By the time he was two years old though the Fantastic Four had returned. It wasn't long before Susan returned to her team and her husband, taking Pietro with her.
Namor was infuriated by the betrayal and he marched on the Baxter Building demanding the return of his son. Susan eventually agreed, realizing she had no right to keep Namor from the boy. Namor returned with Pietro to Atlantis and began to raise the boy on his own. Pietro received nothing but the best as the Bastard Prince. He had the best schooling and the best training. When Pietro was four, Namor met a human woman.
Her name was Mia and she was the widow of a sailor. Namor had saved her from drowning and quickly fell in love with her. The wedding to Mia nearly coincided with the explosion of Baxter Tower and the supposed death of Pietro's biological mother. Mia, a corn fed country girl, raised Pietro as her own. She took him horseback riding and adapted to Atlantean customs for her new found son.
Raised in Atlantis he was fairly unaware of the outside world, that is until his mother took him to America one year just before his seventeenth birthday. While on his mother's childhood farm he was attacked by a Sentinel. Pietro was able to defeat the Sentinel and when others showed up, Pietro would have been killed if not for his mother being recognized as the Atlantean Queen. Pietro was outraged at the mistreatment of mutants, being an Atlantean mutant himself.
He demanded his father do something and Namor explained they could not go to war with America over an ideal, no matter how Pietro felt about it. Pietro was upset and planned for months to actually leave Atlantis, despite his father's watch dogs keeping eye on him. It ended up taking years to properly plan his escape. Being the Prince, he was constantly sourrounded by people.
Eventually with the help of his ex-boyfriend, a royal guard, Pietro was able to escape and make his way to America. He came to shore in Rhode Island. It was here that Pietro escaped into the country and used the money he had brought with him to make his way across the country in secret, including buying himself clothing to hide his pointed ears. He was careful to hide his identity at all costs, not wanting to be seen as a mutant or worse, recognized as the Atlantean Prince.
Pietro traveled for months across America, helping mutants when he could, living from cheap motel to being homeless at times. He fought sentinels and he did his best to make sure everyone he met was better off for it. At one point, he had made his way to New Mexico, over time the heat there began to slow him down and he was weak.
Pietro was jumped by an anti-mutant mob that had seen his ears. If it wasn't for a boy named Rusti, he would have died that day. Taken back to Rusti's home he was healed and eventually had to tell Rusti he was Atlantean. Over the short time spent with him Pietro began to develop feelings for Rusti, ones he was not shy about acting upon. Though this at times made Rusti uncomfortable, it wasn't long before the feelings were returned by the other boy.
He had a whirlwind affair with Rusti and realized he was falling in love with him. Pietro knew he couldn't stay there and leave his mission behind. He hadn't left Atlantis to be with this boy, he had left for a reason. He took off in the middle of the night so that Rusti couldn't stop him. He was incapable of ever telling Rusti no. He traveled across the country again, hitching rides when he could but mostly walking. He fought to save anyone he found in trouble and just kept constantly on the move so his parents and the US Government could not find him.
Pietro eventually began to hear rumors, whispers of mutant cells organizing to fight back, the more he heard, he knew that these secret X-Men cells were what he needed to find to take his fight to the next level. He wanted in, it was why he was in this country in the first place and as much as he missed his home and his things he was dedicated to this cause. He met up with and joined an X-Men cell. It was here that he came more into his own. He was flourhsing as a fighter for the X-Men.
On one of the missions lead them to a place known as Fort Holden. One of the mutants they rescued here was none other than Rusti. He was surprised to find out that Rusti was in a relationship with a girl named Kat. That really got under his skin, he knew Rusti felt the same way he did and he wasn't going to let the man go. In his irritation, he began dating a girl from the base named Miranda to make him jealous. He fought for and eventually began his relationship with Rusti once more, the fake relationship coming out to Rusti in the process, though Miranda quickly became one of his best friends.
Things had been going well, but Rusti wasn't ready for people to know about the two of them, so he had to keep his relationship with the other a secret. The two eventually came to terms and admitted their relationship to the rest of the team. Shortly after Rusti became comfortable with coming out, the two of them moved into an apartment together.
Though Pietro often butt heads with those around the base, he was happy in the base and things were going well. Things went on without much change or progress in Pietro's mind until someone suggested they try taking out the President directly, unfortunately that mission was foiled by the Exiles. A fact that annoyed Pietro. He firmly believed that the death of the human President would solve a lot of the problems around the country, it was why he was here in the first place.
Pietro didn't have much time to dwell on this though as his Dad showed up in New Orleans and took him back to Atlantis with him. He had been seen in the attack on the President and it nearly caused an international incident, leading to war between Atlantis and America. Forced to accept this, Pietro stayed in Atlantis a short time and then managed to convince his father to let him return, but Pietro was cut off in the process. Namor had to make a public announcement disowning his son to avoid war, in order for Pietro to go back to the X-Men. This whole event outed Pietro as the Prince of Atlantis to anyone at the base who hadn't already figured it out.
Pietro eventually took issue with a mission that used members of the team as decoys, placing them into a mutant holding facility, he hated the idea and argued against it. Pietro wasn't able to go on the rescue mission when it was deemed time to go save their teammates, having to go after a group in danger at another X-Men base, that had come under attack. While there he saw his friend Miranda die and Rusti's brother Trent and a teammate named Jamie were taken prisoner by the Marauders. Unable to save them, Pietro was able to take a prisoner of his own, one of the Marauders, Malice. Thanks to this, they were eventually able to rescue their teammates.
Rusti and Pietro visited his home, Atlantis. He showed Rusti off to most of the population, the return of the Prince was a huge event. People held royal dinners and other extravagant parties for the two men. Pietro was glad to be there and to finally show Rusti what his life would be like if they were together, to show Rusti what he could offer him. To his surprise Rusti asked him to marry him while in Atlantis, something Namor didn't condone, but Pietro had never really done what his father wanted of him. In the end he got engaged to Rusti and returned to the base to continue working with the X-Men.
As time went on, Pietro and Rusti grew closer as fiances and Pietro became more established with the X-Men. It was around this time that Pietro began to train the other X-Men, using his advanced training to teach others how to fight, something he took very seriously. He grew closer to his teammate, JaCoby. It was then on the news, that Atlantis was attacked by a rogue Sentinel and Pietro's father was killed. Pietro became extremely depressed after it occurred but came to realize life was short, even for an Atlantean.
Months later Pietro and Rusti were married, the marriage accepted by Atlantis, particularly the new leader of Atlantis, his Aunt Namorita. With Namorita's assistance the two were wed in Atlantis. The marriage was a huge event and brightly publicized both in Atlantis and in part of the world, the Prince was married.
Despite the events of losing his father and everything going on with the X-Men; the two spent some time with each other in Atlantis as something of a honeymoon. Shortly after the wedding, upon returning to the X-Men, Rusti's friend and ex-girlfriend Kat was killed and Pietro had to help his new husband through the pain. Both of them having lost so much. It was hard for Pietro to learn the ropes of being a husband versus a boyfriend, not sure what he needed to do different. It took some time, but he began to find his footing and figure out how it was to be married.
It wasn't long after the marriage that Sentinels attacked Atlantis and Pietro lead a team of X-Men to help rescue the Atlanteans and protect his home country. Noelle, an X-Men team leader, gave her life protecting the country and Pietro was distraught, his father murdered and his country destroyed. He swore to kill the President of the United States for his attack on Atlantis. The Sentinels under the command of the US Government had destroyed most of the Atlantean capital and killed millions of Atlanteans.
Pietro left the X-Men base, sneaking off to hunt down the President of the United States, to take his revenge. Against his wishes, his husand followed him to find the Preident. The two got all the way to the same town as the President and Pietro was ready to kill him. Rusti used his powers to stop Pietro from going on the suicide mission as the President is protected by human and sentinels alike, his powers making Pietro forget that he had wanted to kill the man, mentally making Pietro move on with his life.
He spent a long time living with the X-Men and his husband, but over time the manipulations on his mind by Rusti wore off. He was angry, he tried to deny it, but this had always been his fear when it came to the man he loved. That he'd use his powers to control him. It drove a wedge between them both, he eventually forgave Rusti, but it still left an uncomfortable tension between Rusti and Pietro.
So when Pietro's Aunt Namorita asked him to help rebuild Atlantis, to step in as King, he struggled with the decision but eventually agreed. He moved into the new Kingdom, building up it's strength and becoming a controlling sea power in the southern hemisphere, using Atlantean mystics to hide the new country from technology to avoid detection and possible attacks. The Altanteans had moved their entire species as far south as possible, creating a new nation and rebuilding the population from the few million Atlanteans left in the world.
Pietro helped Atlantis become strong again, for a period of time he even took on Namor's trident, taking control of the power to use and manipulate water, becoming the King that Atlantis deserved. He couldn't stop himself from missing Rusti though, despite their fight. He needed Rusti in his life. He passed the trident to Namorita and stepped down, knowing Atlantis was hidden and safe, he returned to the X-Men and his husband.
Upon his return he found the American civil war had gone into full swing. Apocalypse had risen to power, the Sentinels rising against them. Humans were nearly completely wiped out as the two groups rose to power, fighting for control of the United States, going one step further, spreading out to attack other areas. Pietro stands at Rusti's side, fighting to protect him and the other X-Men. He wasn't the happiest, knowing how badly things were going, but he also knew that he belonged at Rusti's side. It was about a year after his return that two Atlanteans showed up to seek Pietro's help, the Sentinels had located Atlantis.
Despite his desires, Pietro returned to Atlantis. Taking the lead in the fight against the Sentinels. He was there for nearly six months, fighting constantly, daily battles, watching people he knew since childhood die. He knew the Atlanteans were losing, that was until one day the war turned. Mutants arrived, helping fight back the Sentinels. They were winning, but to Pietro's shock, it wasn't the X-Men that arrived, it was Apocalypse's forces. Behind his back, as Queen, Namorita had made a treaty with Apocalypse's Clan Akkaba. In exchange for the Atlanteans joining the forces of Apocalypse, they had come to help defeat the Sentinels and make the new Atlantis Empire, were now part of Apocalypse's forces.
Pietro attempted to kill Namorita for it, seeing it as a betrayal of his father's memory and the ideals that the Atlantean people stood for. He was arrested and placed in a holding cell, sentenced to execution as a matter of showing allegiance to Apocalypse, he was resigned to death. Only upset he wouldn't see Rusti again. He was surprised when Trixie, his former teammate and friend, rescued him from the Atlantean jail, taking him back to the X-Men. He has returned to Rusti and the X-men, though he has never been more lost. He has lost his family and his country - the only thing he had left was his marriage, but even that felt like it was on the rocks.
Personality: Pietro can be a very short tempered and angry man at times, he often yells and can be extremely stubborn, much like his father. He loves more than he can possibly express at points, not being good with his words. He is a very caring man, being quick to take care of others, even people he does not care for, he'd fight for anyone if he believed the cause was right. He has a tendency to assume things, that he will insist are truth, even if he is wrong, he is quick to jump to conclusions. As he has aged, Pietro has become a lot more morose, seeking inward strength, not one to look to others for help. He has odd quirks at times, some of them stemming from social differences with Atlantis and humans, the others coming from his own lack of social interaction as a man while he grew up.
