Powers: Self-detonation. Vince's body explodes in a concussive/hot blast with a blast radius of fifteen feet. The particles/smoke/heat pulls back together and his body reforms after five to ten seconds. He can also detonate individual parts of himself, for less damage, which is also less tiring for him. A smaller detonation causes the radius of effect to shrink as well, to about two feet from whatever part exploded.
Power Limitations: He can detonate himself several times in a row, but every time it becomes more difficult for his body to come back together and he becomes physically weaker each time. After more than a dozen detonations close together, it starts to cause him physical pain, and becomes difficult to pull himself back together.
Hobbies and Interests: Ultimate Frisbee, soccer, Warhammer, painting miniatures, strategy and war games, paintball, video games, role playing games, computer geekness, watching sports on TV, and a lot of other stuff he doesn’t have much time for anymore. His time as a member of the X-Men, Avengers, and then Excalibur have made him a capable fighter.
Background: Vincent grew up in Mercer Island, a suburb of Seattle, the oldest of three children in a more peaceful universe. In this reality, Project Wideawake had never happened. The X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four were intact. Mutants were slowly gaining acceptance, and were never on the verge of being wiped out. Even with the generally increased acceptance, mutants still faced some social stigma and such enemies as the Friends of Humanity, but the world was mostly on a steady keel.Vincent had a fairly unremarkable life for most of growing up; he had a core group of friends that pretty much did their own thing. He was into soccer, and ultimate frisbee, but also into role playing games, models, video games... any type of game, in fact. He had a few tight friends and was satisfied with that, even if he got picked on in school. He was thirteen when his powers manifested for the first time. He spent years trying to hide it from his family, and started sleeping in the woods at night to keep them safe from his dangerous powers. It interfere with his friendships and relationships, and all the pressure he was under just made it more difficult to control himself. Then one day he was dragged to a family reunion and met his great uncle, David Grey, one of the leaders of the X-Men. Vince went to school at the Grey Institute of Higher Learning, learning to control his powers and becoming a member of the X-Men. HIs family was slow to accept his mutant status, but Vincent thrived in his new environment. He even fell in love with Cesca Adams, but she ended up dumping him when he crossed the line over her drinking. After high school, he moved on to go to college and then graduate school. He’d always been remarkably intelligent, so he took the fast track through both. He became engaged while living in New York and acting as a part-time Avenger. When Kat dumped him, Vincent returned to the X-men at the new school in Seattle, then ultimately migrated to Excalibur.
Once in Britain, his life seemed to be looking up again. He got along well with his new team, and started dating one of his teammates, a girl named Willow. She wasn’t his usual type, but she acted like she was really into him, tearing away all of his reservations until he was starting to have serious feelings for her. Then her ex-boyfriend came back to the team, and she dropped Vincent. It was difficult to fight alongside the pair, but he managed to keep his equilibrium through the first awkward month.
After a few months with Excalibur, Vincent went with his team back to Seattle to stop a plot by Doctor Doom.
They teamed up with the X-men, and during the fight, his old flame Cesca was thrown through a rift in reality. Vincent tried to save her, but the rift sealed behind them. They were in another universe, where Apocalypse was alive and war threatened to destroy the world. He and Cesca were trapped in an alternate universe with no way to get home.
Personality: Vince is a pretty laid back guy. He gets along well with people, mostly because it takes a lot to offend or insult him. He’s pretty good at thinking from the other person’s point of view, and he never really kicked his adolescent habit of letting most yelling just go in one ear and out the other. He still likes to get lost in his thoughts, which makes him seem a little spacey, but it still very intelligent when it comes to book learning.
Special Notes: Go for the eyes, Boo!
