Ashley (Ash) Cabre Knight
Ethnicity: Italian heritage
Sex: Male
Age: 29
Appearance:
Hair: Dark brown, usually shaved
Eyes: Metallic silver
Skin: Olive / Light tan
Weight: 258 – heavily muscled
Height: 6 foot 4
Other: When Ash uses his mutant abilities, depending on how much electricity he is channeling, sparks will run up and down his arms and shoulders. Ash has two full sleeves of tattoos that expand out onto his back.
Date Of Birth: October 31st
Place Of Birth: Bangor, Maine
Powers: Ash has Electro-kinesis, the power to control electricity
stored in his body or found in other outlets. While his powers cannot
generate its own electricity, his body naturally gathers a supply
slowly, and he can accelerate the process at will. He is able to
perform multiple feats with his electric powers, including projecting
lightning blasts or balls of energy, identifying different types and
sources of a electric current, or electrifying his body so no one can
touch him without being wounded. He can also disrupt, charge, or
destroy anything that uses any form of electricity and can transform
into pure electricity when touching a controlled electric current
(such as a powerline or wire) and can travel through it.
Power Limitations: Due to the nature of his power, Ash's body runs
partially off electricity, the lack of it in his body greatly weakens
him, often during a fight if his 'storage' of electricity dwindles he
suffers great fatigue or sickness and if he were to run completely
out, without being able to get more in his body, he may lose
consciousness. If Ash were in a place without a supply of energy to
absorb for an extended period of time he would be next to useless and
practically incapacitated. Control collars and power inhibitors have
an instant affect on him and he normally passes out. He can only
detect and absorb electricity within roughly two miles of himself, and
while he can accelerate the gathering process, he cannot completely
control it or turn it off - for this reason he tends to drain down the
lifespan of batteries, light bulbs, and other technology impossibly
fast.
Hobbies and Interests: Guns and weaponry, hunting, working
out/training, camping, poker and other card games, tattoos, football
and other competitive sports. He is never seen without at least one
pack of cigarettes and his zippo lighter - he grudgingly admits to
being a chain smoker.
Background: Ashely Knight was born into a wealthy family in Maine,
the first born child of Jonathan and Leandra Knight. His mother died
in child birth, and Jonathan eventually remarried when Ashley was four
years old to a woman named Tanya Addams, whom already had two children
of her own, Francesca Addams and Ryan Addams. The three of them had a
fairly normal upbringing and he considered Tanya to be his mother and
Cesca and Ryan his full siblings, even if they were only related by
marriage. When all the problems with mutants started to arise in the
government, the marriage was put under a lot of stress, as Jonathan
agreed that mutants were abominations that had little right to live.
He began to sympathize more and more with the Friends of Humanity's
political position, especially when the situation in other countries
began to worsen. It became something the family never talked about,
until one day Ash's powers were revealed.
Jonathan was horrified that his own son was a flesh and blood mutant,
and he tried to kick Ash out of the house, but Tanya wouldn't have it.
As Jonathan grew increasingly more violent and upset over the weeks,
Tanya made a decision to take her children and left in the middle of
the night. They moved to Vegas where some of Tanya's family lived and
hid from Jonathan the best they could, as she knew Tanya didn't really
have any custody rights over Ash and she would never win if the matter
was taken to court. Ash resented his father's choices, especially when
Jonathan took a more public and active role within the FOH and began
appearing at debates and protests, becoming one of the many faces of
the FOH political agenda. Over the years, as things around the world
worsened and worsened, it was discovered that Cesca was also a mutant.
Cesca decided to travel to New York to join the New X-Men, while Ash
continued to stay under the radar, just trying to make a living. In
the fight with the Dark Phoenix, his sister Cesca was killed, along
with many others. This was when Gunner decided to join the team of New
Asgard, the only resistance group with enough power to hold up against
the Dark Pheonix or Apocalypse's forces.
There, he trained hard and helped with the resistance. He met a girl
by the name of Raquel, with a codename Muse, and eventually the two
fell in love. Both of them were together for years, working along side
those at New Asgard, to fight against the growing opposition of both
the Dark Phoenix and Apocalypse, often pitting the two enemies against
each other to let the Horsemen and the old X-Men do the dirty work for
them. Muse and Ash were engaged to be married, and not long after
during one fight Morghan Le Fay, a powerful curse was cast onto Ash,
crippling him from the waist down. As the injury was magical, not
physical, no healers could help him, and Clover Young was unable to
remove the binding spell. Ash was removed from the active team and
spent his days in a wheel chair, and days turned into months and still
no cure for his condition could be found. He felt useless, and this
put a lot of strain on him and Raquel's relationship, though the woman
he loved was always staying by his side it just wasn't the same
anymore.
When he had not been out on a field mission for almost a year, Gunner
eventually decided that a war zone was no place for a useless soldier,
and in the process of trying to kill himself was stopped. He was
watched like a hawk from those all around him, and felt like a
prisoner among friends and in his own body. During a mission that was
to be a direct attack on the Dark Phoenix's headquarters where Morghan
Le Fey lived, Muse decided to bring Ash along against orders. The two
were separated, and when Morghan Le Fey was killed, the curse lifted
from him and he was instantly able to walk again. He felt alive for
the first time in months, but the feeling was short lived when Muse
was killed in the same battle. The mission was finished, the kids from
the other universe saved and sent back to where they belonged, and he
could walk again, but suddenly it didn't matter anymore. Muse was
dead, and many of the other team members had been killed as well, and
he realized he would have rather stayed crippled in exchange for
keeping Muse in his life.
There was nothing that could be done about it, though, and Ash tried
to move on for a few months but found he simply could not. On the eve
of his second suicide attempt, this one more likely to be successful,
time was stopped and he was approached by a woman, Susan Storm, whom
explained she worked for a team of Exiles, and offered him a deal. If
he worked for them to restore other universes to their rightful time
streams, she would try to find a universe for him where Muse had lost
him, instead of the other way around, and place him there when his
help was no longer needed. Feeling as if he had nothing left to lose,
Ash accepted, and joined the team. He has worked with the ever
changing roster for months, seeing people get sent back to their
universes or being killed, and decided the risk was definitely worth
it. He's regained some sense of purpose, though usually his thoughts
are still taken up by missing his fiance.
Personality: Ash is very suspicious of others until they have proven
themselves trustworthy, so he likes to try and new people whenever he
gets the chance. He doesn't like being told what to do and instantly
hates anyone with any power over him. He comes off as an arrogant
self-centered asshole who's impulsive, rude, and quick tempered, but
Ash is also very intelligent and perceptive, and tends to pay more
attention to people than they may think.
Special Notes: He hates being called by his first name, its best to
just stick with Ash, or his code name, Gunner.
