Cambria DarziCode-Name: CameoEthnicity: Afro-Latin AmericanSex: FemaleAge: 24Appearance: Hair: Black, long, sometimes in braids Eyes: Black Skin: Chocolate brown Weight: 133 lbs Height: 5'6Powers: Trichokinesis, also known as prehensile hair, is the psychokinetic ability to animate and manipulate one's own hair. Every strand of hair has fifty times greater strength, elasticity and resistance than normal hair. She can grow her hair out rapidly, lengthening it several feet in only a few seconds. She can bind people/objects with it as if it were rope, use it as a whip, or use it to lift objects that are heavier than what she could lift with her arms (about 800 pounds max). Her scalp, skull, and neck do not support the weight of an object she lifts, its held up by the psionic force coursing through the strands of hair. She can perform delicate tasks with her hair such as threading a needle, or more complex acts of coordination like typing on a keyboard.Power Limitations: Even though the strands are stronger and more resistant in general, hair has a number of natural weaknesses, which it retains even when animated. It can still be scorched, burned, cut, ripped out, ect. Once the hair has been cut or otherwise severed from her scalp, she is unable to retain control over the hair. Her abilities are limited to hairstrands on her head, she cannot control anyone else's hair or any other object/material that is not her own hair. While she can grow her hair rapidly, she cannot recall the hair once its been grown. The act of growing the hair takes energy, and quickly burns up the hydration and nutrients from her body, causing immediate minor side affects, such as dizziness, fatigue, poor reflexes, and moodiness. Long term side affects can be weight loss, insomnia, anemia, and the most dreaded, acne. She will be hungry after a rapid growth, and eats almost constantly.
Background: Cambria's mutant mother Cecilia was a low income doctor that spent most of her time volunteering medical service to the homeless. This is how she met Cambria's father, Kaleb, a Muslim who recently left Nigeria to become an American citizen. He'd been an accomplished teacher in Nigeria but was unable to find a job in the USA and had fallen on hard times. The two dated shortly, and after Cecilia helped Kaleb get back on his feet they were married.Cambria was the third of four children, her two older brothers Jayden, Deon, and her younger sister Kendra. Shortly after Kendra's birth, Kaleb unexpectedly lost his job. After several months of unsuccessful interviews, Kaleb began to drink more and more. His temper was terrible and he hit the boys daily. Cambria didn't remember much since she young, but Kaleb was always getting angry with her oldest brother, Jayden, who got the worst of it. While he never touched her or Kendra, the children were constantly afraid of making him angry. Cecilia was always working so she wasn't aware of what was happening for a long time, but the first time Kaleb hit her in a rage, she left him. She found out after kicking him out that he had been abusive to the kids for years.Cambria had seen her mother use her powers in daily life so mutants were not scary or a foreign concept to her at all. It still came as a shock to herself and the family when Cambria realized she was a mutant. Cambria had trouble hiding her abilities from friends and classmates at school, and started getting antagonized for what she was. Jayden, who was a senior at the same school, was usually enough to keep the bullies at bay. Jayden was the most rebellious of the four siblings and acted out in school and always got in trouble, but he had always protected Cambria from Kaleb so in her eyes he could do no wrong.
One day, Cambria gave attitude to the wrong guys and started getting pushed around. Jayden came to her defense and what started as a fist fight ended with her brother getting stabbed. Unable to use her powers offensively at the time, so could only watch helplessly as the boys killed her brother. Jayden's death hit the family hard. Around the same time, the community seemed to turn on them. Mutants were in the news more and more, marked as freaks and mistakes. Her mother started losing patients, and people started attacking and vandalizing their home.
Cambria eventually decided to leave, thinking her family's problems had all started because of her. She dropped out of school and cast out on her own, taking odd jobs to get by, often working as a bartender or bouncer. She wasn't as big as some of the guys, but she was in shape and a good fighter, and was never one to turn down a thrill, a fight, or a challenge. At one of the clubs she met a singer named Reese Devereaux and the two became fast friends, prompting Cameo to travel with her band as a roadie for awhile.
The two eventually parted ways, and Cameo wasn't really sure whatever happened to Reese. Homeless again, Cambria was approached by a woman who called herself Miss Sinister, offering her a job, a place to live, and the freedom to use her powers. Cameo didn't hesitate to become one of the Marauders, as it seemed like a great deal with her. As the world around her continued to degrade into anti-mutant rhetoric, Cameo felt more and more justified in her fight for superiority against human kind.
Personality: Cambria is enthusiastic, candid, and full of energy. Her immense energy sometimes makes her seem aggressive and restless, she gets bored with sitting around fast and she can be very impatient when she doesn't get quick results. She is quick-tempered, can hold a long grudge, and she tends to be blunt and rude to people she doesn't like. She is extremely competitive and often wants to be the best of the best. She is also very reckless, impulsive, and a bit of a daredevil.
Special Notes: Model is Keke Palmer.
