Powers: Cae's body supports the growth of flowers from her skin, normally sprouting along her arms and legs and weaving around her limbs. The closest family of flowers they resemble is the lily. She typically grinds the flowers into a fine powder or infuses it with liquid and oils to store them in tiny glass jars or dart guns. Each color of flower has its own special properties:
Poisonous. The most common flower color is typically white, with gold radial markings, and orange spots and black flecks throughout. If digested or injected into the skin via darts it acts as a poison that causes rapid heart beat, difficulty breathing, painful stomach cramps, nausea, and blurred vision. If the poison is introduced via dart, cut, or if the powder has direct skin contact it burns and eats away at the skin. The poison can be deadly but only if a large amount is injected, the affects usually wearing off within twenty-four miserable hours. If applied to the skin it can be washed off but deterioration of skin cells begins instantaneously.
Medicinal. A flower with a red radical pattern. Either digested whole or ground up into pink powder / infused with liquid this flower can be used to heal wounds. It is also the cure for the golden lily's poison. For topical wounds, it works best if sprinkled or rubbed over the affected area. The flower works to numb any pain and rapidly knits flesh back together, though more serious wounds naturally take longer. If swallowed, it can heal minor aliments, sprains, internal wounds (though slower) and has a revitalizing affect.
Hallucinogenic. The lilac flower when consumed or injected via darts acts as a powerful psychotropic. It can cause severe panic attacks, often accompanied by skewed visual, auditory, sensory and emotional perceptions. Victims are unable to function and will often fall into fits of screaming. Depending on how much of the light purple flower comes into contact with a victim, the affects can last an hour or more.
Sedative. The bright green leaves from Cae's flowers can also be ground up, consumed or injected - they have mild sedative, euphoric and anxiolytic properties. It can be powerfully addictive. Less effective in battle, she often uses this as a form of torture or a means to manipulative and control others over long periods of time. She experiments by mixing the leaves with her hallucinogenic, poisonous and medicinal flowers to make them more potent and dangerous.
Only once a black flower has budded, and the use of it is unknown. Cae keeps its powder safely on her person at all times.
Power Limitations: Caela is unaffected by her own flowers, meaning she cannot use the powder to heal, drug or poison herself. When healing others, broken bones that need to be set will not magic themselves into the right place, and may heal wrong and need to be set after the fact. Bullets and foreign material lodged in the body will be healed over, which can also cause problems later. Topical wounds are best healed externally, and internal wounds take longer to heal. If someone is seriously injured they will be exhausted after, even with the
revitalizing affect and the help of the elixir it takes time for the body to recover and replenish large amounts of lost blood.
The growth of the flowers is not instantaneous, they take several weeks to grow and only in certain seasons. They also take time to harvest, grind up and infuse with different liquids and oils. Without her prepared powders and darts her powers would be of no use to anyone.
She would be far from helpless though. After becoming a Horsemen Cae received the blood of Apocalypse, which has given a considerable boost to her speed, reflexes, and strength. The strength is the most enhanced though it is no where near superhuman (she could probably lift about four hundred pounds.) Cae is also a very experienced fighter, and while she has had no official training in a particular martial art, she is a scrapper who loves to fight dirty, with an affinity for guns and knives (often with blades dipped in the liquid of her poisonous yellow lily).
History: Caela was born into a poor family who grew up in the outskirts of the small town of Ste Adele, Quebec. The family relied on the little money their father brought in week after week. Kendrick was a hard worker but sank to drinking away his woes, sometimes attacking his wife and children, or disappearing for days. They were devout Anglicans, with their problems well hidden from the members of their parish, and they never admitted to Kendrick's temper fits, gambling, or disappearances to anyone. Cae's mother Maggie was a sweet but fanatical woman, doing her best to raise her family around their father's ailments, and loved her husband dearly. When Kendrick lost his job and was unable to support his family, his condition only worsened. Kendrick spent away all their savings in gambling, and drank himself into a rage almost every night. He stopped attending holy communion, the most horrifying of offenses in the eyes of their mother. The situation hit the bottom of the bottle when Cae's older sister admitted at school what their father had been doing, claiming he paid 'extra attention' to her. Their father immediately went missing, with the police unable to track him down, but the hunt made headlines in the tiny town. In the eyes of her mother the family name was ruined, the fragile image they'd presented to God taken away.. and it left them only in sin and purgatory. When Kendrick appeared at their home late one night, he was not himself. He spoke of an escape to the one place people like him belonged, insisting it was the only way. He kidnapped her younger brother, Kennan who was only two, and they were unable to stop him. Kendrick's body was found two weeks later along with the corpse of her little brother, who had died of hypothermia in the night. Kendrick had taken his own life.Unable to keep their home and snubbed by the small conservative parish in their town, the family was forced to migrate to the United States illegally to live with Cae's aunt. The woman was cold and quick to point out her parent's obvious flaws, and she saw the shamed family's presence as mostly a hindrance. Caela's mother considered herself as a lost soul and soon stopped attending the new church, going outside or even getting out of bed. She was in mourning for herself, her son, and her husband and prayed constantly for Kendrick's forgiveness hoping to free him from the torture he was surely undergoing. Cae grew to hate the parish and her mother, and people were continuously disturbed by her attitude and contempt of Christ. It was around this time that Cae's appearance began to change. Her skin grew pale and her eyes turned a soulless black. Her ailing mother saw these as signs of a witch, and of the Devil. She called Caela the child of Lucifer. Her aunt was the one to run Cae out of the house and unto the street, and Cae did believe for a long time she was a spawn of hell and not a mutant. After being homeless for a time Cae was captured along with a group of unfortunate souls, mostly mutates or those with unsightly powers, and transported to an unknown island. At the center of the island a large arena was built, were mutants were forced to fight each other for the entertainment and gamble of wealthy humans. It was here she learned what hell truly was, and in many ways, she preferred it. She survived over two years in the trials, and slowly learned to enjoy her fight to the top ranks and the killing of those weaker than her. She begun to thrive on the death and torture of others, the fight to survive and the will to live that it took.
The trials were interrupted when a group of mutants attacked the island, but rather than freeing the enslaved instead they were challenged by their rescuers. Weaker fighters were immediately killed and discarded, while those who proved themselves worthy were freed, Cae among them. Her saviors had been followers of Apocalypse, at the head of those followers the Horseman Conquest, a man named Seraph. Apocalypse was a God she could truly believe in, one that shared her ideals regarding weakness. She truly hated gutless humans like her father and mother, people she had come to despise. She agreed to work with Seraph as one of his many guards, and after a short time the two became romantically involved. He seemed to understand her riddles, and the two of them had the same goals and opinions, though he still seemed to hold her at arm's length. As proof of her loyalty to Seraph, Cae was able to track down his father, Mac Gargan and brought the man beaten and half dead to kneel at Seraph's feet. The two shared a mutual hate for their parents, and with Cae's blessing she killed his father as a present of sorts. From that moment on the two had been nearly inseparable. When Seraph brought home a new pet, a boy named Dallas with convenient teleportation powers, she excitedly agreed to assist in breaking him. Unfortunately the little puppy was rather stubborn, with a mouth and an attitude that was not so easy to control. With the help of a special collar and the drug ground up from Cae's leaves, they were able to get a grasp of control on him. Cae has made sure the pup was completely dependent on her drugs, and therefore, her, and Dallas has become one of her favorite play things.
During an attack by the X-Men, Dallas was taken from them. The rescue also served as a distraction tactic, as another team of X-Men were successful in killing Apocalypse that same night. Seraph and Cae's home was destroyed in the process, making Cae for the first time see the X-Men as more then a nuisance. The powerful couple returned to Apocalypse's temple in Death Valley, and Seraph gave a speech to thousands of followers to honor their fallen God as a martyr.
Apocalypse's death caused a vacuum of power among the followers highest ranks, with Sinister and the Horsemen fighting for power and territory. Conquest took the temple, forcing War and Death to flee back to their territories. Sinister was allowed to remain only after offering a gift - a young child by the name of Cillian, as a child was something that Cae has wanted for a long time.
Famine refused to back down, forcing the territories to war for a time, and after Seraph and Cae murdered her, Cae took on the title of Famine, the honored Horsemen of Apocalypse.
Personality: Cae is cool and collected at most times, with an obviously very false sense of sweetness that disappears instantly if she is provoked or angered. She is very intelligent and manipulative, quick to find out an enemies weak points to use it against them whenever she gets the chance. As a sadist, she loves to toy with and torture her enemies. She has no love for the Christian God, and has become very devout not only to Apocalypse but to Seraph.
