Analysis 101

OUTCOME

By the end of this lesson you will have a better understanding of the analysis techniques we use to examine data and how we deal and calculate uncertainty in our results

Uncertainty in a measure can be attributed to several factors, the resolution of the equipment, when we have to perform mathematical operations on data with uncertainty we must ensure we consider the combined uncertainty in our final result.

LEARNING TASKS

Explain

Explain the difference between the terms absolute and percentage uncertainty, resolution, precision and error. How do we find the uncertainty in the mean of data?

Explore and Elaborate

Use this data set to set up a spread sheet that applies your understanding of uncertainty calculations and how to plot uncertainty bars on the graph.
