L12 & 13 Combining forces
OUTCOME
By the end of the lesson you will be able to recognise and use Newton's third law and solve compound force problems
An inclined plane problem uses trigonometry to find the components of the force due to gravity resolved along the angle of the plane and perpendicular to the plane.
Most problems involving forces are compound, they involve several forces acting together. Solving such problems often involves considering the system as well as the components
LEARNING TASKS
Explain
1. What is a compound force problem?
2. If two objects are connected how will they accelerate?
3. If two objects are connected by a rope, what exists in the rope?
4. How is your answer to question 4 related to Newton's third law?
