How can stars move?

Look at the image below and identify which stars appear to have moved.

1. Use a diagram to explain why the stars appear to move in the sky from May to November.

2. Why would one star appear to move more than another?

3. Make careful measurement of the change in position of the stars

4. If the grid lines represent the 0.25 of an arc second, determine the change in position in arc-seconds.

5. Use this data to give an estimate in parsecs the distance to these stars.
