Here you will explore the world of design and manufacture and learn skills that will enable you to bring your creative ideas to life.
This site was set up in March 2020 with the sole purpose of supporting the remote phase of learning in Design and Technology for pupils at Rugby School Thailand. When school returned in September 2020 the website was developed to support the teaching of Design & Technology within the classroom and to enhance the digital component of the subject.
This website details and explains every step of each project from Year 3 to Year 8 in a range of different ways such as, step by step photos, photo examples, detailed text, video tutorials and language options for our EAL students
D&T understands that international students may speak a wide range of different languages and when English might be a new language to you, it can be challenging to document and evaluate your work.
Our D&T EAL Language page offers supports and examples different techniques on how cross-language comments or translations can be used.
To enable us to work in an amazing workshop space like we have at Rugby School Thailand, it is very important that we take health and safety seriously.
We must have an agreed set of rules that we all adhere to to keep us all safe. During your first experience in the workshop each year, your teacher will go through the rules with you and you must sign to say that you agree to behave appropriately when in the Design and Technology department.
Agreeing to this set of rules helps keep us all safe.

You will learn many skills during the designing phase of design and technology. Some of it will involve research to learn more about materials or technology and some parts will involve developing your design presentation skills to help you communicate your ideas. You will use a mixture of computer aided design and sketching to present your work.
During every design project you do you will learn different practical skills that will enable you to work with different types of material.
You will work with had tools and machine tools as well as learning different manufacture processes.
Showing evidence of your work is really important to communicate your creative thinking and to show your progress over time.
You will hand in pieces of work to your teacher for marking on the Google Classroom and you will present all of your work on your very own website.
You will keep a log of your work each week on your own website 'digital portfolio'.
You will be expected to keep this up to date during D&T lessons as well as independently using Prep / study lessons.
If you are a returning pupil then you will only need to create a new page for any new project.
If you are a new pupil, you will need to create a website from scratch and make a project page.
*note - please add your teacher as a shared collaborator to your site by pressing the 'Share with others' button.
