Session 3

• • In this session we will be focusing on teamwork; why it’s important and how, as a STEM leader, you might work as part of a team.

• • Can you think of any jobs that don’t require you to work with anyone else at all?

• Can you think of any teams that work effectively together?

• You might want to consider teams in sport, business, entertainment, politics, STEM, your own life etc.

• Why do you think your identified teams are/were so effective?

• Consider the skills and behaviors that you know are important for effective team working

Fill out the tables on google classroom with as many jobs as you can think of where you have to work alone and also effective working teams.

Work as part of a team to complete the problem-solving tasks of the Cup Challenge and The Toothpick Tower Challenge.

• Once you have completed the activity, discuss:

• How successful was the team at solving the problem and completing the activity?

• What made the team successful?

• Did anything make the team not so effective? If so, what and why?

• What skills and behaviors do you think are needed for successful team-working?
