On paper you need to sketch, render and annotate designs for a minimum of 4 2D ideas for your puzzle. Your ideas can be any size as long as they are still in proportion (150mm x 115mm). Your teacher will explain this to you.
When you have finished you must upload a photo of your work to classroom and present your design work on your digital portfolio.
The initial idea mazes show variation and original designs. Initial ideas should be annotated to explain your design and plan.
Rendering is important as it allows your design to look visually appealing, it can help show off your work and explain how you want your design to look as a finished product.
These designs are all half finished - only one side of each has been rendered completely. Some shadows and blending is missing.
Notice the blending - some is complete and so has not been finished yet.
Blending tones and colour to be neat
Step 1 should be to draw your box measuring 150mm x 115mm. You should draw your designs inside these boxes.
The 150mm x 115mm boxes should be drawn with a ruler otherwise lines will look messy.
Some highlights can be added to the rendering to create the illusion of reflection.
All initial ideas should be annotated and labelled to explain your ideas.
Take time to render so that you can achieve dark, medium and light tones.
Draw a 150mm x 115mm box for each design.
Create 6 design that are unique and original.
Fine line and render your work neatly and remember to use a ruler for the box.
Moving parts may spin or twist. Check the designs below and notice how there is a central pin for the moving part to spin around on.
