When presenting your work, it is important that you have control of your pencil.
A very common technique to enhance your designs is to add colour tone. This is when different shades of the same colour are applied. Mrs Douglas will demonstrate this technique to you.
Shade the box below, using a colored pencil, starting on the right with the darkest shade, gradually progressing towards the left getting lighter and lighter. The shades should ‘blend’ into each other, and not be clearly separate.
In the next exercise, you will have to add a Colour Surround and a colour block to the designed shapes.
Your teacher will demonstrate this technique to you. Try to ensure that you shade ‘darker’ at the edge of the object, gradually getting lighter and lighter as you move away from it.
You can use these techniques in a variety of ways to enhance your communication.
