Restrictions are set so that solving the design problem is actually made easier for you and that you all work using the same constraints. This will help you to complete a clock of high quality in the specified time. The ‘Client’ has stated the following points as a Specification for your clock designs.
You must work to the restrictions (Specification) listed below:
The clock could be free standing or wall mounted
The clock should be manufactured from Acrylic and you may consider combining this material with a timber
No single piece of your clock design should be bigger than 300mm in height, and 250mm in width, as these are the largest size of single Acrylic pieces that can be supplied. Your clock can be larger than this size as you can glue parts together
The clock should (ideally) be bright and colourful, and match a theme from your analysis web above. It should be eye catching and be manufactured to a high standard i.e. no scratches, polished edges, smooth timber, detailing etc.
Due to the cost of acrylic and the amount of time that you have, you can use between five and ten pieces of acrylic and up to 5 pieces of timber. You may use additional materials if you wish but please check this with your teacher. This is to (hopefully) ensure that you complete the clock in the given time but you also have a good level of complexity.
