Wire Sculpture

ARTIST STATEMENT

DESCRIBE

The subject of my sculpture is my flip flop, and there is no setting. The work was made with wire (18 and 28 gauge), wire cutters, and needle nose pliers. I chose to create this specific artwork because I thought it would look cool as a wire sculpture.

ANALYZE

I used the fishhook technique to connect the wires to form a structure. The project did not evolve during the making of it at all.

INTERPRET

This artwork does not really have any meaning or story. It relates to my life because I wear flip flops every day, and they are based off of my actual shoes. I think that this artwork could be stronger if I had more practice with wire sculptures, because it was my first time working with those materials to create a work of art.
