Mixed Media Drawing

ARTIST STATEMENT

DESCRIBE

The setting of this drawing is my kitchen, and the subject is my dog Charlie. I created this artwork using charcoal, contae (white charcoal stuffs), and ink wash, along with a tiny bit of graphite. I chose to draw from that particular photo because my dog is cute and I like this photo.

ANALYZE

I used the gridding method to grid the image and the paper, although i don't like doing that method and the boxes just confuse me and don't seem to really help. My project didn't evolve at all really, except when I screwed up with the ink wash and tried to fix it by using a bunch of contae.

INTERPRET

This artwork doesn't really have a story. It's just my cute dog. The drawing represents my life because it's a drawing of Charlie, and she is my dog. I think this artwork could be stronger if I didn't screw up with the ink wash, because not only did it cause the paper to get all wrinkly and flake off in some spots, but the overall piece looks a little messy due to trying to cover the ink that was too dark with contae. However, considering I'm not good with ink and charcoal, it's not bad.
