ARTIST STATEMENT
DESCRIBE
My 4 time capsule drawings are all set in my bedroom, my room was the setting for these. The subject of the self portrait is me, the subject of the ring drawing is the ring, the subject of the hand drawing is the hand and the pencil, and the subject of the corner of a room drawing is the corner and all the stuff in that space, for example the window, the chair, etc.
The only material I used for these 4 drawings was a 2H drawing pencil.
I created these drawings because that was the assignment. The self portrait I drew because I was supposed to, I didn't really have an option to draw anything specific. The ring I drew because I thought it would be interesting, because of all the indents in the silver. The hand drawing I drew it holding a pencil because I was holding a pencil while thinking of what the hand in the drawing should be holding. And finally, for the corner of the room drawing, I thought it would be fun to draw that specific corner of my bedroom because there is quite a bit of stuff, so it wouldn't be quite as boring to look at.
ANALYZE
I didn't really use any specific techniques for these drawings, except the corner of the room one. That one I used perspective, to try to make it look like an actual corner with dimension and not quite as flat.
This project didn't really evolve much. My self portrait evolved because I was trying to make it look realistic so I changed quite a few things, for example I changed the ears quite a few times, and just the general shape of the head and body. Also, The hand, I changed the lines and creases i the hand quite a few times to get it to look right, along with the position of the fingers. But other than that I didn't revise much.
INTERPRET/EVALUATE
There isn't really a story behind this artwork, I just kind of drew it. There isn't really much meaning behind it either.
These pictures relate to my life because it literally IS my life. The corner of the room is my bedroom, the self portrait is of me, that ring is a ring that I own and that I don't wear that often because I always take it off for swim practice and forget to put it back on, but I do wear it sometimes and I have had it for a while, and the hand drawing is of my hand.
To make this art better, I could have cleaned up the lines a little bit more, but I didn't because my art teacher said to only send up to 30 minutes on each one. Especially the corner of the room, the lines are a little bit messy.
