Corona Response

House Arrest, 3"x4"

ARTIST STATEMENT

INTERPRET

The story of this is that I am not allowed to leave my house, visit friends, go shopping, or do anything that I enjoy doing. The person living there is basically under house arrest and being punished for no reason, because there is a virus spreading around. This relates to my life because that is what we have to do because of the coronavirus.

DESCRIBE MATERIALS

This piece was made with Sculpey and acrylic paint. I first used the Sculpey to form the shape of the rabbit, and then I painted it with acrylic paints. I painted it different shades of blues to represent the sadness in times like these, and I painted gray prison bars on the doors and windows to represent how you feel trapped in your own home.

DESCRIBE PROCESS

For this piece I focused on color, with the different shades of blues and purples, as well as shape. This project did not evolve throughout the process. My next steps would be to work on the porches, because it was hard to get them to look super neat since they were so small.
