Color Study

ARTIST STATEMENT

DESCRIBE

The subject of my creation is my dog, Charlie, made out of squares. The setting is the den in my house, where the reference picture was taken. I made this by gridding 1cm squares on the paper and photo, and coloring each square a different color using oil pastels. I chose to create this specific artwork because that was the assignment and my dog is really cute.

ANALYZE

I used the gridding technique in my artwork to make each individual square a different color. The project did not really evolve at all while I was working on it.

INTERPRET

This artwork does not really have a specific meaning or story. The art relates to my life because the subject of the art is my dog. I think that next time I could make this project stronger by trying not to get smudges on it from my hand while working (which is hard because i'm left handed).
