Perspective

ARTIST STATEMENT

DESCRIBE

The setting and subject of my drawing is on of the hallways in the school. It was made with pencils. I mostly used 2H lead, but I also darkened the closer objects with HB and 2B lead. I chose to draw that because that was the assignment, and also I thought that that hallway looked more interesting than the other hallway.

ANALYZE

I used perspective in this drawing, as you can see, because everything fades into the vanishing point in the back. This project didn't really evolve much, but I did change the bench on the left side multiple times, because I couldn't quite seem to get it right. The back door also changed a little bit too, because at first I started drawing it looking more flat up against the wall, but then I realized that it was actually propped out towards me a little bit (not up against the wall but not as close as the door on the left).

INTERPRET

This artwork has no meaning or story, I just did it because I had to for an assignment. This project can relate to my life because its the hallway of Freeport High School, and that is where I currently go to school. I feel like this artwork could've been better if I was able to practice drawing perspective a little bit more beforehand, because that was pretty much my first attempt at perspective, and also maybe next time add color so it isn't quite as boring, but overall I think it turned out pretty good.
