Cricut Project

A dark and stormy night

8.5"x11"

ARTIST STATEMENT

INTERPRET

The story of this is that it is a “dark and stormy night” just like how most gloomy stories start. This relates to my life because I was feeling gloomy, when I came up with the idea for the landscape (because I was so behind on work from being absent!).

DESCRIBE MATERIALS

This piece was made with watercolor and watercolor paper, glue, construction paper, foam board and gel pen. I cut out my designs using Cricut on the watercolor paper and then painted them with watercolors. I then glued them to foam board and glued that to a piece of construction paper arranged into a nice little landscape. I also then added stars to the background with white gel pen.

DESCRIBE PROCESS

For this piece I focused on the color of the clouds, water and lightning. I did this by painting them bold colors with watercolor. This project did not evolve throughout the process. My next steps would be to make the stars look more bold, as I had trouble getting the white gel pen to stand out on the black paper.
