ARTIST STATEMENT:

INTERPRET

The story of the goggles is that a goggle brand wanted a logo, so I designed one, and the story behind the FHS logo is that Freeport’s class of 2020 wanted some cute class shirts. These both relate to my life because I swim, so I wear goggles everyday, and I am a member of the FHS class of 2020.

DESCRIBE MATERIALS

These pieces were made with markers and ink pen. The falcon is just black pen, and the goggles are black and blue markers.

DESCRIBE PROCESS

I experimented with positive and negative space in this design, and tried to create simple images using only positive and negative space (other than the blue in the goggles). This project did not evolve through the process My next streps might be to make the “o” in goggles more prominent, and improve on the feet of the falcon while still keeping it looking very simple.
