Pure Contour

ARTIST STATEMENT

DESCRIBE

The subject of these creations is the shoe. My shoe is the subject, and there isn't really a setting for this drawing. Its just pure contour shoes. I created these drawings with nothing but a pencil, paper, and an eraser. I used a 2H pencil for the sketch then went over that with 2H but pressing harder, then erased the sketchy lines and went over the pure contour lines again with a 2B pencil, so that the lines would be darker. I drew my shoes because that was the assignment, but also because my shoes are fun to draw.

ANALYZE

I didn't really use a specific technique for the pure contour shoes, except for pure contour. However, the zoom and cropped shoes, I zoomed and cropped, as well as pure contour. My zoom and cropped shoes evolved by the part that I drew. I kept moving it and flipping the viewfinder because I didn't know which one would look best, but eventually decided on those 3 in the drawing.

INTERPRET

These drawings don't really have much meaning. They are just shoes, there is no story behind it. They are drawings of MY shoes, however, so that is how it represents my life. I could probably improve pure contour next time by making sure that ALL of the sketchy lines got erased.
