Beej, 8"x8"

ARTIST STATEMENT

INTERPRET

The story of this is that this guy named Beej really loves ramen noodles. This relates to my life because Beej is a good friend of mine, and he often eats ramen noodles before swim practice and then throws it up during hard sets.

DESCRIBE MATERIALS

This piece was made with black construction paper on top of foam board for the background, ramen noodles, the package from the noodles, and glue. I first broke up the noodles and glued them onto the paper to form the shape of his head and all of his features. Then, i cut up the packages and collaged it to make his tank top and the border, to add a splash of color and a little bit of pizzaz.

DESCRIBE PROCESS

For this piece I focused on the texture of the noodles and how it contrasted against the smooth paper and plastic, and making sure that it stuck out and lifted off of the paper. This project did not evolve throughout the process. My next steps would be to clean up some of the messier glue edges. Some places you can see glue on the paper that isn’t covered with noodle, which makes the piece look a little sloppier.
