ARTIST STATEMENT

DESCRIBE

The subject of my creation is my dog, Charlie. There is no setting, as I chose not to do a background and left that black. The work was made using a scratchboard. I chose to create this artwork because that was the assignment and my dog is cute so I like drawing her.

ANALYZE

I used various techniques in creating lines with the scratchboard (hatching, cross hatching, etc.) This project never really evolved at all while being created.

INTERPRET

This artwork does not have a meaning or story, its just cute (because my dog is adorable). The art relates to my life because its a drawing of my dog, and I love my dog. I think this artwork could definitley be stronger if I had more skill with a scratchboard, because i feel like I was terrible at it and I hated the scratchboard project.
