Foundations of Art
After taking Foundations of Art this school year, I can say that I have learned a lot of new art techniques and have since improved my drawing skills. I have learned about many different composition techniques, how to make my artwork and compositions strong and more visually appealing (for example, activating all edges of the paper), and about art history and artists and the movements that they have started (for example, Dali, Da Vinci, Pop Art, Pointillism, stuff like that).
My overall experience in this class was for the most part good, aside from burning myself with a hot glue gun multiple times and having paint explode in my face. I had a good experience though, and I had fun drawing and learning new at skills, and I think I really did improve my art. I enjoyed the independent project the most, but I also liked the color design project and the assemblage sculpt a lot. My least favorite project was definitely the scratchboard, followed closely by the social issue prints. I would say I am most proud of my assemblage sculpture out of all the projects we have done this year.
I think that art relates to my life because I have always loved to draw, and I will probably continue to draw in my free time for the rest of my life. It helps me relax and I love to start with a blank piece of paper and turn it into whatever I want. I love to draw cartoons and make comics, and I plan on continuing that for a long time. This class was fun, and although I am not taking any art classes next year, I enjoyed this class, and I don’t regret taking it.
