INTERPRET

The story is that this dairy cow is grazing on some grass and enjoying herself. This is visually evident, as the cow is the focus of the piece. I chose to make this because I thought that it would be a good way to incorporate the ink splatters, and I think cows are very cute.

DESCRIBE MATERIALS

This artwork was created using a paper with pre made ink splatters, which I then drew around with markers and colored pencils. I used the preexisting ink splotches to create spots on a cow, and drew around that into the form of a dairy cow in the grass.

DESCRIBE PROCESS

I experimented with movement in this piece. I tried my best to make the grass look as if the wind was blowing it to the side, which i why it is tilted to the left. I also drew the cow’s tail heading towards the left to show that the wind was blowing that around as well. My project did not evolve much throughout this process. My next step might be to color the background to look more uniform. There is some white space showing through the colored pencil streaks, which could have been avoided. Next time, I would also try to stick to either just colored pencil or just marker, because I’m not sure if I love the look of the two materials combined when it comes to this piece, or at least the way I did it (I could also try to use them together but in a different way).
