Overview:
Screencastify is an easy-to-use recording program. It is excellent for recording your computer screen during a presentation. You can also plug in your document camera to record yourself using manipulatives or solving a problem on paper. There is a 3-second countdown timer before Screencastify starts recording. You can choose to show yourself in a smaller screen while recording, or you can remove the box so you will not be shown in the recording. While recording, you can choose to restart if you make a mistake, pause the recording, or stop the recording. After you click stop, you then review your video and give it a title. You can edit your recording in the Editor. Here, you can remove clips from the recording, add text, and add media. For example, if you made two recordings, you can combine them together to have a single recording to share. After you are done editing, you can then share your recording by getting a shareable link from Google Drive, publishing your recording to YouTube, or sending it in an email. This is a great program if you want to record a lesson for students to view in small groups and for students to be able to look back at, explain directions for a project or how to use a tool, or communicate information with families, such as the strategy you are using in Math class.
