Overview:
Scratch is an online platform that allows students to practice their coding skills by creating their own animations and games using block-based coding. As students become more proficient, they are able to use more features of Scratch, including audio, images, and text to demonstrate understanding in other content areas. Students are able to view and comment on other's work, as well as "remix" other user's creations. There is also an offline version of Scratch so students can continue their work anywhere!
While designing, students have three sections on their screen. On the left, students can choose which code blocks they want to use. Students put together their code in the center. Their results of the code can be seen on the right. Tutorials and guides are available to support students as they make their own creations. Teachers are able to create an Educators Account for Scratch to gain access to more features, such as creating a class, adding students, group students' work by projects, and monitor student activity.
